Well, if I have to logic it out, then it's not art, at least not for me.

I guess most people forget the other sought-after models’ integrated bracelets and lugs, lol...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 25th, 2019-19:29
I find it amusing why lugs must be wider than bracelets? Maybe we are so used to more conventional designs. Look closer it’s the similar tapered flow here with Nautilus too. Back to conventional again 😉 ...

Then you save $28k for another purchase...

Not a bad thing

+1 ...still can't wrap my head around a design choice that results in ill-fitting end-links.

 By: vitalsigns : October 26th, 2019-06:39
They don't match the geometries of the case or the lugs. This is not a styling issue as much as it's a simple execution issue.

I'm scratching my head...

...with this new ALS offering. Didn't post earlier since the design is still marinating somewhere in my brain. I like the concept, the pushers, the day/date, water resistance, all in steel. The design itself...I'm not sure yet. I think it will grow on me....

Now they called the white dial Nautilus - The Piano, how beautiful...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 25th, 2019-20:27
let me say it's all because of price, sad but true.

Because it’s ugly

 By: Mark : October 25th, 2019-20:35
If your eyes need to adjust to it, and then your brain needs to make comparisons with other watches, then it doesn’t really speak to the heart... at least that’s how I approach this thing called a passion.

Ugly is subjective...

Love is blind, not everyone’s wife is a beauty pageant contestant but the couples themselves still live happily ever after with offsprings...

No worries...

Like their CEO was saying, the controversy is expected and they welcome it. There is something for everyone.

I think that in this situatiothe case of the Lange can’t be compared with the Oak or Nautilus, since they use cases that are specifically designed to meet the bracelets, but Lange is using a regular case and lug construction so they should’ve

 By: ZSHSZ : October 25th, 2019-22:14
Follow the Rolex example illustrated . Yes I think we are used to the “ classic “ look ... When I look at the Odysseus , I see a case and a bracelet that doesn’t match . But on a rubber strap I’ll take it ....

I also feel it will be nice to have a rubber option like the VC Overseas...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 25th, 2019-22:34
Like the other photoshop picture with the balanced ears on the left, it looks funny. 12 years in the making so I’m sure hundreds if not thousands of drawings and combinations for selection by some authorities. Someone shared this comparison and it also no...

Absolutely!

 By: ZSHSZ : October 25th, 2019-23:00
I’ll take the one on the right in a heartbeat ! Now that would’ve been a “sporty” Lange ... But 12 years to design this ? Maybe the movement, but come on , it’s a topical Lange case sans the pushers , and a plain bracelet... Lange I don’t believe you ;-))...

simple fix?

 By: monte : October 25th, 2019-23:55
if the links can be easily removed, could we not purchase 2 of the third links (the narrower ones) and replace the first two tapered (wider) links and achieve the same effect as in the photoshopped pic? if that's possible it would be a simple solution and...

I also prefer the look of the one on the right

 By: 1WatchMan : October 26th, 2019-12:41
Looks more "natural" to me.

Lugs

 By: hackingseconds : October 26th, 2019-01:38
Lange uses a more “traditionally-designed” lugs for this sports model. The bracelet should have a disconnect, much like Rolex’s. The Nautilus and the RO do not use the same design language/ layout when it comes to their lugs, therefore they can take on a ...

They must be thinking of future with the design, although I agree with CR’s above comments...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-09:31
Now I understand if the end links are thicker and have same height with the lugs, it will look more integrated to the eyes,

Lange has NO integrated bracelet

 By: piccolochimico (aka dsgalaxy1) : October 26th, 2019-02:08
The comparison with RO and other ones is nonsense.

I’m comparing the shape and flow of the watch from lugs.

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-09:28
A bunch of “old” guys unknown to each other and yet GtG, drink, is no nonsense? Lol...

I like it a lot!

 By: tempus : October 26th, 2019-02:17
They did right, otherwise it would be more or less a „regular“ Lange, but in steel. It‘s always the same: People need time to get used to it. It‘s a very, very nice watch and I will go for it! Best Tempus

I hope this new release will make a balanced supply and demand situation for the competition...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-09:32
Good for you, now let’s wait and see the delivery which was said to be in Nov 2019.

As others have said it’s because the Lange actually has traditional lugs which the other two don’t. Right now, this doesn’t look right to many people (that may change).

 By: Jay (Eire) : October 26th, 2019-03:57
It may very well be that after some time, as we get used to seeing it, this Lange workaround for perceived integration will not look so odd to us. I would argue for the same reason a Nautilus on a strap also looks somewhat odd, although less odd as the ye...

Problem is lugs and bracelet width not the integration itself...

 By: edo.k : October 26th, 2019-05:00
It is too wide and it doesn't go well with not so sporty dial... here is 5 minutes photoshop with -15% wide lugs and bracelet, new Polaris bracelet and Apollo 50th bracelet... ...

I like the original still better [nt]

By: COUNT DE MONET : October 26th, 2019-05:17

#2 is very nice [nt]

 By: vitalsigns : October 26th, 2019-06:43

That’s a nice side by side comparison...it’s all good to me, hard to choose...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-09:35
Maybe the original design just won by a small margin.

As I ponder this watch

 By: watch-er : October 26th, 2019-06:40
the only thing I really do not like is the day complication, in two letters, to the left. Too cluttering in my opinion. I would also have put the date window at 6 instead of 3. Everybody puts the date at 3. Boring and so 1970s.

also needs a center sweep seconds

 By: watch-er : October 26th, 2019-06:42
to be a readily useful and readable function sports watch and allow for timing short things

The perception is that Lange chose commercial success over artistic integrity

 By: jmpTT : October 26th, 2019-06:42
The watch itself is quite solid, but the criticism is an emotional response to a brand, perceived as being “above the frenzy of mass luxury”, releasing a watch designed for mass luxury appeal. Whether fair or not, it is perceived that a conventional brace...

The Lange seems so much more "heavy" visually than the Nautilus and the RO.

 By: vitalsigns : October 26th, 2019-06:46
In this case, too heavy. The execution of the end-links (how they integrate with the case and lugs) is done very poorly IMO.

The watch itself is not heavy physically...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-09:45
it’s a challenging project so we’ll see. Remember the 40th anniversary Nautiluses? How many negative comments about the words on the dial but then now it’s almost tripled, the words “wow”, “grail”, “beauty” all came out from nowhere...bunch of hypos 🤷🏻‍♂️...

Too many distractions and hypes in watch collecting since 2016, isn’t it?

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-10:12
People still will pay for it so I wonder if brands start to increase their retail price to match the open, what will happen? Fun to watch 🙈

Jay you are so wrong

 By: GreatPilot@me.com : October 27th, 2019-17:14
No disrespect but I have a 6.75 inch wrists and the 5976 fits it fine, not small but since it’s the ONLY 44mm Nautilus in the world there are plenty of watch collectors that would die for it as the 40mm is rather small...Jim

I still feel the same way about the 40th anniversary Nautiluses. Some things do change with time, but not everything does.

 By: vitalsigns : October 26th, 2019-10:16
I also think it's a bit of a straw man to say Lange wanted controversy....the Nautilus and RO weren't loved initially...etc. as a deflection to some critics of the design. A design may indeed have to battle with our expectations and prejudices before bein...

Totally agree with you John.

In the end of the day, most creations won't become icons...and for good reasons.

Absolutely. There are plenty of watches out there to like....

 By: vitalsigns : October 26th, 2019-11:45
Glad you liked this one, and look forward to a review and live pics if/when you get it. Cheers, John

Hopefully soon ...

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 26th, 2019-12:53
I won’t be the first few waves for sure as those will be for their VVIPs 😂 Anthony De Haas mentioned in some videos delivery will start in Nov so I’m hoping early next year for me. Thanks John.

People really get what they asked for?

 By: Clueless_Collector : October 27th, 2019-18:03
1300 pcs is quite a lot but then this watch collecting has become a new asset class, investment vehicle and no longer a hobby. Good for you and I’ll be honest Im happy if my watches appreciate like that, it sure works for the next generation as heirlooms....

As hard as it is to say about my favorite brand.........

 By: TonyR : October 26th, 2019-16:21
The bracelet design, which is key for an iconic sports watch, is a flop. It's as simple as that. Tony

If they put a "beads of rice" type bracelet without the super taper from the lugs

 By: reintitan : October 26th, 2019-18:23
IMHO this would improve the visuals of the watch immensely. Anyone got such photoshop skills? Jocke? Either this style... Photo credit: Grand Seiko USA Or this one... Photo credit: seiyajapan ...

Lange Lugs are Lovely...

 By: Esharp : October 26th, 2019-20:04
...so why hide them? I’d agree with your idea to straighten out the last three rows of links on this bracelet so it goes in between the lugs, allowing them to shine. Lange already has good form in this - look at the bracelets made for the 1 and Datograph ...
