I especially think that discussing auction prices is fairly pointless. Often it is nothing more than the egos of two bidders.
But I would love for the notion of value, whatever it is, to be more openly discussed here. We are often letting brands get away with murder which is not good for anyone. You yourself have commented on the retail prices of some recent JLC novelties ...
I think beyond the subjective where all the fun is, it is productive to talk about 3 components : what is the "quality" - innovation, complexity, finishing etc , price : is the retail price realistic, quantity - how many realative to market demand, the promise "limited edition" etc.
This is just my opinion of course.
