I actually love the big date.
It’s very practical and I think it makes a watch look unique. That’s one reason why I really enjoy my Lange annual calendar.
Do they make the perpetual calendar In all three metals, rose gold, white gold and platinum? I don’t really know what honey gold is. I assume it’s rose gold.

Clear, practical, finely made with nice detailing especially the guilloche to the hour markers and of course its in honey gold. My only comment when I tried it on was that its dial size was on the smaller side ... my preferred dial size these days is 40-4...
It seems to be a great size and a nice movement...
...but the leap year indication is really bad design...

That is my favorite part! One, because it is Lange DNA and two, the information that one typically lacks is the Date (not the day, month or. Year). :)
So that is why I think it is so fitting to have a prominent date in a calendar watch
