SIHH 2019: Lange & Sohne Langematik Perpetual Honey Gold. A quick review
May 03, 2019,00:24 AM
The Langematik Perpetual was a superb watch, and one of the most desirable perpetual calendar since its introduction in 2001.
18 years after, Lange comes back to this watch in a different metal version, honey gold.
Honey gold was used by Lange since 2010, with, among others, the 1815 Moon Phase Homage to F.A Lange.
This Langematik Perpetual Honey Gold is the 8th watch to use this metal which doesn't only have a very special hue, somewhere between yellow and rose gold, but which also is harder, due to its special alloy.
Here no difference compared to the Langematik Perpetual we know when it comes to the movement, the Cal Saxomat 922-1, with its characteristic three quarter rotor and its traditional finishings ( german silver, hand engraved balance cock, swan neck, and so on ). It is a true Lange movement with a power reserve of 46 hours.
The case has the same dimensions, for sure, with a diameter of 38, 5 mm and a height of 10, 2 mm which gives the watch some nice proportions.
Honey gold not only for the case, but also for the hands and applied indices, which contrast with elegance and warmth with the silver dial made of solid silver.
At the difference with the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon, the dial is more legible, due to the fact that it doesn't have the chronograph informations.
So, here again, not a revolution, but a nice evolution.
Best,
Nicolas
