I’m back to Cartier after a very long hiatus. This was the model that caught my eye when I was accompanying a friend to the Cartier boutique recently. An elegant 2 hand Santos-Dumont XL, manual wind in RG. Comparing the different metals, this one stood out for me and even though I’m generally not a fan of coloured metals, I had no hesitation in choosing it over the others.

Being vertically challenged at 7.5mm is not such a bad thing for a watch that easily slips under the cuff or sleeve in the winter months. Perfect for those nights sitting beside the fireplace sipping your favourite scotch or cognac. The XL term is a bit of a misnomer here as it conforms well to the wrists of normal to even smaller dimensions. This is one Cartier that I’m happy to re-introduce myself back to the brand.

That looks great — love the image of sipping cognac or scotch, by a fire, with that watch on the wrist.

Congrats, a stunning version! This week I was paying a couple of surprise visits to ADs and my girlfriend had a chance to try on a few Santos-Dumonts as well...I believe both are smaller versions than yours, and looked beautiful!

Thank-You. They promised to try to get her (but I'd wear them too! ;-)) a couple of the new Must (green and blue dials)...fingers crossed because they don't come easily and we are not technically customers of this AD! We'll see :-)
