If Seiko decided to only go upscale.

With more and more people going more towards Grand Seiko especially in the mid tier luxury watch department does anyone here see Seiko just saying why bother making cheap $200-500 watches anymore? Let me clarify just keep the Prospex line of Divers in the $350-1000 range since most outsell anything else Seiko sells and get rid of the other line of watches that don’t sell and just keep GS and the Upscale Affordable Divers.

cause great delight at Casio & Citizen. I can't imagine why they would do it. There's also Credor on the higher end.

How many outside watch collectors know what Credor is? I wouldn’t be surprised if Citizen dropped their non eco drive line in the near future.

I like Seiko’s higher end stuff....

...and would miss much of their SLA line. Seiko has the sports/ dive watch history and designs to build off of and have done a nice job bringing back vintage pieces recently. Grand Seiko sport pieces lack the history and style for me. ...  

Unlikely Seiko will ditch the bread and butter anytime soon.

GS is now run independently from the mass market segment with 5-6 product brands which is still a focus for its watch biz globally. I dont see Seiko providing breakdown in sales of its watch brands but total watch sales is about US$1.3bn, more than half o...
