The King Seiko is back...
Feb 21, 2021,11:40 AM
It’s been a hectic weekend between yesterday still being a workday and two birthday parties of one of our children, so I hardly managed to run WS properly, let alone get many spare moments for a breather. And almost all were used up in a quick dash to the Boutique to pick up the freshly arrived King Seiko SJE083.
Haven’t worn it yet, or even removed all of the wrapping or tags but wanted to share a first picture.
It’s nice to see the dressier side of things also being taken care off at Seiko and the piece is a great 140th anniversary celebration reissue of one of the more significant watches from the company’s history.
It might not fully convince in pictures, with the date being the obvious break with its ancestor but in all honesty Seiko is only slowly adopting the idea of leaving the date out on certain limited edition pieces.
The polishing is very sharp (can see nicely how the tie reflects of the lug and case) the sunburst dial and the flat polished hands offer an excellent legibility in spite of the low contrast. And fortunately they went for a solid case back, which was a correct decision IMHO.
The movement is a 6L35, which offers a healthy PR of 70 hours and probably decades of trouble free operation.
Now if one of the following weekends is better, I will try posting a review, too 🤞🏻
