Hublot Square Bang - Novelties 2022

Apr 09, 2022,16:49 PM

I didn't see any post about Hublot 2022 Novelties so I thought it would be a good idea to share some photos for the benefit of Hublotista's and anyone curious about the new releases.

The Square Bang is an interesting release: a new shape is always a big step for any brand. Shaped watches are generally not that popular. The Spirit of Big Bang (my favourite) is now joining the Square Bang in the "shaped ". At 42 mm it should wear similarly to my Spirit of Big Bang 42mm but somehow, as you can see from the photos, it seems to wear pretty big

Thickness should be 14.7 mm may be just slighting thicker than the spirit.

Unlike the Spirit of Big Bang (that is powered by the Hublot skeletonized version of the famous El Primero movement) the Square Bang uses the Hublot Unico movement.  It is still a round movement but looks nice on the caseback. This is the limited edition All Black version let's see the non limited titanium with ceramic bezel

here you can see a direct comparison with the Spirit of big Bang. Is it me or it really seems pretty much bigger? May be because of the width?

As you can see below I think the spirit looks fine on my wrist -- yes it is big -- but not as enormous somehow

here is the gold/ceramic version

I like this variation too but perhaps the all black is nicer. Still I am not convinced about the size compared to the spirit. What do you think ?

Christian

The rubber strap and clasp also look very good, I like the adjustability of the strap.

Thank you for posting!

I wasn't a fan of the release. But now that I see it on your wrist, it looks better on your wrist than the press-release photos!

Hard to say...

The photos are all a bit too close up, so it looks fine in the close up. Not too big. But generously sized. The Spirit is further away, and the Spirit looks good too. If we zoomed out a bit, the new square Hublots might look a bit too big though. Hope tha...

I see you have been at the Zürich Event as well… 🤩

I looked very forward tonit, as I have been at every Baselworld Hublot event etc. - and was, a bit disappointed! The Time Only 40mm BB was not even there. The Square Bang could have been something too, but - w a y - too big❗️ The new ceramic colors I like...

not the event! too many people ...just in the boutique the day after and could take some photos!!

always liked the classic fusion but somehow the movement held me back from getting one. Do you also feel that the square 42mm wears bigger than the spirit 42mm ? I think so but my theory was seen as a bit strange in the boutique 😁ahh right I didn't think ...

Yeah, the movement isn‘t really „to die for“… 😂

Actually I had big problems with the power reserve in 2015. At the end Hublot swapped the Sellita with an ETA - the problems where gone! Sellita had issues with the ball bearings, which are solved now! A good reliable working horse, but of course nothing ...

thank you for your input on the square bang! I did always stayed clear of the classic fusion

because of the movement. I liked the design of the Berluti a lot but once I knew it was selita, no. Workhorses but not worth (for me) for the price. I just got my first Hublot in February, the Spirit of Big Bang 42mm worked well for me, big but not enormo...
