Interesting....while not a great vintage,1981 was not a 'terrible' vintage.
I have drunk many claret from that vintage which were enjoyable. You have a gem there,unexpected or not. best

Wines and watches are there to be enjoyed,regardless of price.
However, unlike watches,wine has to be consumed to be appreciated and enjoyed ---as they say,the proof is in the drinking(sic)! Would love to join you tasting. Enjoy your liquid assets!

Agreed. Hence I bought Petrus to drink in this off year.
I think many people who are disappointed because price can make the grapes sour the joy when compared to a great bargain with great taste.
