I haven’t made it to Louis Lunch yet. But I’ll make a point to visit on my next trip to New Haven.

Whenever I’m in New Haven I always think of coal-fired pizza first. Anybody who knows New Haven knows the town is divided by which local pizza you prefer. You’re either a devotee of Pepe’s or Sally’s. I definitely prefer Sally’s, but Pepe’s is pretty darn good too. It’s kind of like the two Philly Cheesesteak camps in South Philadelphia — Pat’s vs. Geno’s.

My kids regularly make (or did, before COVID) the pilgrimage to Zuppardi's in West Haven, and I think it's justified. (But what do I know? In New Haven itself, I prefer Modern.)
