Had some fun meals over the weekend in Brussels

May 13, 2019,07:14 AM

Friday evening at La Maree,a cosy seafood restaurant off Sr Catherine's place with a crab salad and a delicious 'Lotte au Poireaux' which they do so well, which was aptly accompanied by a young fruity and minerally Bourgogne blanc from Vincent Giradin.A good start to the weekend

 lovely monkfish

This was followed the next day by a light lunch at Francois
with a bloc of foie de canard

followed by a variant style of  boiled monkfish with creamy gravy

well complemented by an Alsace Pinot Gris which was fragrant yet had a dry finish from Trimbach,a good foil for both dishes.

Looking forward to more food and wine tasting over the next week in Europe

cheers

Brussels is a great place to visit. A little gray for a large part of the year but from your pictures it looks like the sun was out. Vincent Giradin lovely white. I am pretty sure i have some in the cellar will have a look later. Best Bill

As usual i seem to have aged this one a little. 2001 Corton Charlemagne I found this 2007 Riesling that could be a good way to finish. ...

The moselle should be drinking well now and could be paired with food.
