It's noteworthy when you collect the most quirky Rolex....?

It's rare to witness Rolex being 'playful'......but an intense study of the 'blue-dial' model of the Milgauss is a welcome contrast to their more 'serious' designs which grace my collection...

My original Submariner 1987 Ref 168000

My 40 Rose Gold YachtMaster

And the Rose Gold GMT Master II (the RootBeer)

Rolex never seems to receive enough credit for their Design Department which I believe is at the core of their success......
As an Architect for over 50 years.......I know and appreciate exactly how hard it is to maintain a superlative level of industrial product design, and a careful study of this Milgauss will reward those with an appreciation for such details.
There are literally thousands of combinations of size, proportions, finishes, angles, and thicknesses in the choice of dial, colours, case, lugs, bracelet and clasp....and I can truly say that this Milgauss is as close to faultless in all these areas IMO.
Of course.....the fact that there is no real reason in these times for a specifically 'antimagnetic' watch.....makes its survival dubious?
That would be a pity 😒

YachtMaster design makes my point just as emphatically.... Sheer brilliance πŸ‘

No real reason for an antimagnetic watch nowadays??? At the contrary! We are all living with important magnetic fields: TV screens, Hi FI Loudspeakers, cell phones, lap tops, even hair dryers...

Then, this Milgauss i not only a cool watch, but also well built to defend itself against magnetic fields... Even if some are superior to its thousand gauss... Best, Nicolas

Cool watch indeed my friend...

But aren't most modern watches with silicon hairsprings and combinations of non- ferrous metals equal to the Milgauss in practice?

ROFLMAO!

Thanks for an interesting and thought-provoking post, and indeed kudos to Rolex for its subtle but constant innovations in all areas, including its hugely successful designs!πŸ™πŸ˜‰

The Milgauss line is so special and, in a sense, unique with respect to the rest of the Rolex catalog that I’m sure will always have its fans regardless of its practical use!πŸ˜„πŸ₯‚ Enjoy.

Your seal of approval my friend.....

Breguet 10 Hz

I recently saw the use that Breguet has made of anti-magnetic materials with their new 10Hz movement, basically using magnets to keep the balance pivots β€œfloating”, thereby reducing friction and improving accuracy. I was extremely impressed. I don’t know ...

Beautiful watch, indeed,

(and if I found love for the super quirky seconds hand, and unfortunately I cannot, I'd be all over it.) Cheers Marc

Ive had mine for 4 years now and Ive had a lot of fun with it

I used to hate it. Untill I started loving it. Its a special watch for a special mood but always a mood with a smile.

I normally wear a new watch the entire next day.........
