For Radiomir-lumed vintage Panerai (3646, 6154, 6152) and 1950s - early 1960s era vintage Rolex (6542, et al)

a Geiger counter is a definite must have. If the dials and hands don't read off the charts, then they are not the real deal! Radium is hard to come by these days.

You are talking about the Bakelite inserts contaminated with Strontium 90

Which Rolex replaced but did they also replace the dial and hands? The document only says replacement of the bezel if necessary.

Dear lord its my time to shine

This is why I tend to avoid vintage Rolexes as I have no knowledge

Buy the seller, true but what if the seller is also conned though I trust him/her? I guess I'll stick to new/used modern watches 😣 Thanks for the infos!

Wow!

So many cheats these days! May I request the name of the dealer via PM? Thank you for this. It is just plain scary at how many fake and franken vintages there are these days.

The reason I stay away from vintage pieces

Simply too scary. Bought one Datejust from my birthyear and that turned out to be a complete disaster.

I’m no expert.
