The Rolex that wasn’t tough enough for the Moon 🌚 🌝

Just read an interesting article on Fratello that the Rolex 6238 and the Longines-Wittnauer 235T were the other two contestants to go to the moon. But the Omega Speedmaster Cal 321 prevailed.

I’m happy Rolex didn’t win this. They are strong enough as it is and if they would have been chosen to be the Moonwatch supplier I don’t know if we would have the Omega as we know it today.

But I do agree that the Speedy was the right choice for NASA. Larger and more robust. I wish Rolex would make a modern version of a non-Daytona chronograph with a smooth bezel and internal tachymeter scale. I would buy that for sure. PS The hands of the o...

Glad Rolex didn’t win. And thankful that Omega has the history it has today!
