My first “real” watch was an IWC 3741
For those not familiar it’s an early 90’s model, a Mecaquartz with a 233 piece JLC 631 movement.
Sadly it stopped working a while ago and after some enquiries only IWC would touch it. I was very much in two minds about spending so much on a watch that on a cost / reward basis was a “write off” in car terms.
However I couldn’t let it go to the spare parts scrap heap and bit the bullet. These have been creeping up in value and that many continue (slowly) as others meet their maker (or rather don’t).
Anyway, it needed a thorough service, and I also got a very light polish and re-luming, and now have probably one of the best examples of this 90’s classic which lives on after it’s near death experience.
I’m very happy to have it back!

I congratulate you for making the decision to save the watch. You should be proud of yourself as we are. Bravo! 👍
Great story

Personally I think revival projects are the most satisfying so I can share your out of curiosity, was the relume done as part of the service?
Yes,

the relume was done by IWC at the time of the service, but very much an optional extra! I’m really glad I opted for that. The old lume had turned an off yellow hue and stopped working years ago. Now, bright green! ...
Thanks
