A 12 years old picture of my ex Panerai Pre Vendome collection.

I had them all, Slytech or not, at the excpetion of the 209/A and 210/A, even the Blackseal Slytech.

After the big move I made, there were some survivors, these 5 Pre Vendome, the PAM 36, the PAM 198 and the PAM 249.

But I had a very soft spot for the Pre Vendome...

They were really something. A bygone era.

Best,

Nicolas

the allure of non-matching hands? I hear this all the time in regards to Pre-V Panerai, but it doesnt yet make sense to me why this is a positive over aving matching hands consistent with the patina of the indices.

one is purely esthetical. Apparently, a lot of Paneristi like the NM dial. The other has to do with..rarity....hence resale value. For instance, of 850 something 5218-201A "Logo", only about 100 or thereabouts, are NM.

One of the peculiarities/nuances of collecting vintage

Thank you Sergio. I cant think of another example in vintage watches where this would be preferred. Couldn't someone simply remove the matching hands with non matching? Were Panerai's, pre-acquistion that good and accurate to know the difference?

What causes the....

NM phenomenon are the indices. The indices were hand painted with mixes that were not always the same. The hands are all the same (probably manufactured industrially) There are no NM hands. In fact there are also 202A with a matching dial ...

They are all special Nico. Do you still have any?

...your archive photos. They are always fantastic. Seeing these must be bitter-sweet for you. The plain bezel Mare Nostrum Slytech and Logo are my favorites. -John
