Haha. Yes, there's a slight contradiction there for sure.
But let me explain.
First, the 360 is the only Panerai which remains and while it was an important part of my history of collecting it was another time. So today I wouldn't say I'm invested in Panerai. More oddly than this 44mm piece I did own a number of 47mm pieces, and while my wrists were a little bigger 10 or 15 years ago the 47mm just were ridiculous. I know that now. 44mm looked OK, and I could pull it off, with the 47mm I just might as well have been wearing a marine chronometer on my wrist. Today 44mm looks a little big to me for my wrists but the 360 captures perfectly what comes to my mind when I think Panerai and so that was always the one I would keep.
Second, for me there's a big difference buying a slightly too big for you Panerai at that price point than for example a Logical One from Romain Gauthier. The threshold for perfection not just with the watch itself but also with its fit, wearability and therefore expected wrist time increases exponentially as the dollars increase.
Hopefully that makes sense as you are right, I've mentioned many times some great watches that I'd love to have but I just don't believe they are a fit for my wrist. And some of those are smaller than 44mm, even 40mm with the "wrong lugs" (for my wrist) is enough for me to press pause.

Thanks MJ. It's evolving but there is a core that is very settled and long time/life time holds (god willing).
As with all of us, there's an itch for new and shiny and so one always needs room for the part of a collection that might move around.

Panerai has played a part in the passion for watches and collecting for many of us. A return to form for the brand would be great, but I fear that Sub has already sailed. Looking forward to your next 1000 posts.

And I LOVE the 360, one of the best Pams out there! Many of us still have a soft spot for Panerai. We all went through that era when our watch collecting passion was growing.
