Elegant red gold encounters powerful black, bi-colour meets intense grey. In 2020, two new versions of the SeaQ Panorama Date diver’s watch make their appearance in the still-young collection. The new timepieces are now available in a red gold version with black dial and in a contemporary bi-colour composition in stainless steel and red gold with grey dial.
Sporty timepieces with powerful presence
In the spring of 2019, Glashütte Original introduced the SeaQ diver’s watch, the debut model in a new collection.
Inspired by the first diver’s watch made in Glashütte, the Spezimatic
Type RP TS 200 from 1969, the SeaQ combines history and modernity in a
fascinating way.
The new models extend the manufactory’s SeaQ line with timepieces that appeal to connoisseurs of gold or bi-colour sport watches. High-contrast black and gold lend the red gold version a powerful presence: the hands, Arabic numerals and rod indexes on the black dial with sunray finish feature elegant galvanic gold surfaces. The rotating bezel’s ceramic ring with white lacquer inlay, the generous use of luminous white highlights and the Panorama Date’s white numerals on a black ground ensure maximum contrast and enhanced clarity.
The galvanic grey dial of the bi-colour model, which is also enhanced with a sunray finish, takes up the silver-grey hue of the stainless steel case. The warm glow of the rotating bezel and the crown, both fashioned in red gold, complements the cool shades of grey. Galvanic gold numerals, appliques and hands on the dial provide additional warm accents.
Maximum reliability under water
The SeaQ Panorama Date is water-resistant up to 30 bar, around 300
metres, which makes it suitable even for professional divers. Numerous
details, such as the screw-down crown and the centrally screwed sapphire
crystal case back, support the water resistance of both models.
A safe diving experience
As genuine diver’s watches, the new SeaQ Panorama Date models, like the
existing models, feature a unidirectional counter-clockwise rotating
bezel with clearly perceptible minute-click, in order to ensure reliable
determination of the dive time.
The clear minute-click and the Super-LumiNova coated triangle that marks the start of the dive contribute to a safe diving experience. In addition, the ceramic inlay gives the rotating bezel, which is fashioned in red gold, a scratchproof surface. The galvanic gold applied Arabic numerals and rod indexes as well as the galvanic gold hour, minute and seconds hands feature generous Super-LumiNova inlays.
The SeaQ Panorama Date uses the award-winning Calibre 36 in order to ensure that it meets the demanding requirements of precision timekeeping underwater. In the 36-13 version it beats within a 43.2 millimetre red gold or stainless steel case and is optimised, as always, with regard to the four principles of accuracy, stability, running time and aesthetics. Thanks to its bayonet mounting the movement is anchored in the case in a particularly secure manner and features a remarkable 100-hour running time, while the silicon balance spring ensures reliable and high rate precision – above and below sea level.
Rigorous testing
The SeaQ Panorama Date meets the most rigorous German and international quality standards.
Each watch undergoes intensive in-house testing to ascertain its water
resistance and airtightness under over- and underpressure conditions.
During a prior homologation procedure, a number of test watches were
examined to determine their shock resistance, resistance to salt-water
corrosion and the resilience of individual functional elements, among
other aspects. It goes without saying that the promise of quality
integral to the Calibre 36 is also kept by the SeaQ Panorama Date. This
means not only that the timepieces meet the stringent DIN and ISO
standards for diver’s watches; they must also submit to and successfully
complete a demanding 24-day test, the excellence test. This includes a
simulation of the conditions of everyday wear, and a 12-day monitoring
of rate precision in six different positions. An individual certificate
provides evidence of this test.
Both models are available with a waterproof grey nylon mesh strap developed especially for the SeaQ or with a black rubber strap with relief pattern.
