A prototype, a mystery or a simple frankenwatch???
Sep 24, 2015,14:37 PM
Team,
This watch belongs to a dear friend, that acquired it based on a story.
As every Purist must know, a good story don't make a real watch but I simply don't know.
The story is that this watch was assembled by a local team of watchmakers during a training session that Omega used to provide here during the 60's to early 70's.
The story continues stating that this was a prototype of a watch that never entered on the Omega production line.
It seems to me based on the Omega ST 176.007.
I had one 176.007 for few hours:
Here is the mysterious watch:
Notice that it's somehow a left handed one!
The dial seems to me original, but what I know about 70's watches.
I could not locate anything similar to it on the Omega "black book".
Here is the caseback. I didn't opened the case.
Side view. Crown seems to fit.
Now the big question for our resident experts:
It's real?
It's a true prototype?
I don't have a clue.
Thanks for seeing.
Cheers,
Nilo
