Omega Pre Bond love

Jan 14, 2022,15:44 PM

Just felt a huge nostalgia towards this beautiful piece, equipping my wrist today. It is my caliber Omega 1111 automatic movement equipped, Prebond. It has the "Galaxy Dial", a regular black dial which has seen better days, but through servicing or something else has resulted in this dial that comes off like a Galaxy with stars in the sky. Out of all my watches, this piece fits the best, I can't believe Omega dropped this bracelet because it's so comfortable and wraps around your wrist snuggly (like a snake without the venom), no other watch can compare, it's sad I don't give it enough wrist time but that is changing soon. Wishing all our members a good and safe week, care to share your Prebonds with me as well? I feel like other than the Omega Dynamic the Prebonds are one of those under the radar Omegas.

I do not currently own vintage pre-bond Omega although I think they are stunning… Especially the 1968 to 1975 Seamasters… having said that I do think the current PO models are the best Omega has ever created certainly technically and equal to the 70s aest...

I have to admit...

I kind of fell out of love with Omega (2 botched orders from an AD and a Boutique). I hit a craze for Omega 2008 models (I've got a PloProf and a Rattrapante) and a Planet Ocean has always been on the to add list. Vintage, I love 90s pieces that are weird...

Thank you my friend, I was lucky with that piece for sure

Although it isn't perfect (possibly redial) it still makes me love it more, I'm not a huge fan of the Seamaster script and there's still debate on if the non script dials are redials or not.

Can you share a macro of the dial? Rather doubtful . . .

. . . it's been refinished. Original pink gold crown, buckle and pigskin strap are icing on the cake.

I will for sure, she's been sitting in my cabinet for a while now.

I think the Swiss Made was bigger spaced than most but I'll totally take a photo later and make a new post.

Plus1!

I wish it was a regular dial color

However it got the star look (I'm suspecting service) it looks great. It actually came out pretty consistent, the movement is crisp I made sure to confirm that years ago, was imagining the worst for this piece but fortunately it's been a workhorse.

The one thing that surprised buyer and seller is that case size difference...

Totally agreed with your comment and I feel that the Quartz movements of this model also add another mystique to the Prebonds, not sure if the guide to the Prebonds is still online but there used to be a member that had all the versions and made his own g...

I've mentioned my fondness for pre-Bonds several times . . .

. . . and while I don't own one, an example precisely like yours - mid-size pure steel - is still on my acquisition list. Perfect size, absence of helium valve, agreeable aesthetics - what more could one ask for? My stardust Seamaster . . . . . . waves he...
