… and remembering those three brave men aboard Apollo XI who dared to risk their lives to fulfill that most awesome achievement for Humankind. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins, true heroes. I will never forget the thrill, excitement and awe...

True heroes of our time. I’m sure that they would appreciate your tribute. I salute them ! ...

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful example…

 By: Subexplorer : July 21st, 2021-20:34
…dear Captain! These men surely deserve our tribute. I can see the characteristic bevel inside lire lug of a CB case there? Do I see well? Cheers my friend! Abel

You own a very special Speedy my dear friend!

I still need to have a CB case in my collection. Not an easy piece to get. Keep enjoying yours so much! Cheers! Abel

I’m sure you will find one ...

While I don't have a Speedy yet, my favorite . . .

. . . (aside from a NASA-issued 105.012, of course!) would be the A.C.P. This example . . . . . . was posted by Anotol a few years back. Why the A.C.P.? Because the dial was made especially for a private group of auto enthusiasts in Peru. Our So Cal alpha...

The ACP marked are truly scarce and coveted pieces indeed…

 By: Subexplorer : July 21st, 2021-20:38
… dear Art! That would be a great choice indeed. Of course I would also love to own a NASA issued example. But I feel it would be an out of my reach financial possibility and probably an invitation to an FBI visit! Lol! Cheers! Abel

Definitely a special Speedmaster ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : July 21st, 2021-21:33
One for the collection !

If memory serves correct, there were only fifty made . . .

 By: Dr No : July 22nd, 2021-06:57
. . . and there's an owner's registry with a confirmed population well short of that number. Our HSTE has an A.C.P., and Anotol owned one in the past. A few years ago, a tattered A.C.P. was offered on eBay. The seller was in Peru, and if my memory is to b...

It’s a cool Speedmaster ...

They were all delivered on July 2, 1964.

Interesting to know!

And ...

 By: Cpt Scarlet : July 22nd, 2021-17:11
Not a lot of people know that ! ...

In America we celebrate the Fourth of July. In Peru . . .

 By: Dr No : July 22nd, 2021-17:20
. . . Omega's agent celebrates the Second.

He'll need all the luck in the world. Omega turned us down . . .

. . . with an order for ten Speedies with a dial like this: [mock-up prepared by mrsnak] Art ...

Looks good 👍

 By: Cpt Scarlet : July 22nd, 2021-18:52

There's supposed to be a Greek letter gamma . . .

 By: Dr No : July 22nd, 2021-18:57
. . . in there as well. Alphabet soup gang transliterates to ⍶βɣ. Omega declined to indulge us. So we had to settle . . . . . . for t-shirts instead. ...

The T shirt looks great!

Looks great!

I don’t know the policy of Omega to accept or refuse an order for an special marking on dial. May be it requires a large order or perhaps they don’t accept that at all.

From my conversations with a boutique manager, Omega is willing . . .

 By: Dr No : July 22nd, 2021-22:07
. . . to engrave cases, and has done so recently for a group of collectors. But customized dials? No such luck.

Interesting to know that dear Art. I imagine that dial ..

These are really beautiful watches.

I can’t but love the Speedmaster, in almost all it’s iterations. I just watched last night a Netflix documentary called Mission Control which focused on the ground crew for the various space programs of that era. It’s good viewing if you have access to it...

Thank you so much for your comments…

 By: Subexplorer : July 21st, 2021-20:47
… and interesting info about film and podcasts Jay! I can well understand you. I was 20 years old in July 1969 and as most people received those images and news in newspapers and TV with awe and admiration. It was an engineering miracle and a mix of scien...

Thanks a lot for your kind comments my friend. The previous Moonwatch was a superb timepiece indeed. I can attest to that as I own both the hesalite and saphire versions and enjoy them so much.
