Tuesday of Laureato week: Girard-Perregaux Laureato 4266 TA

Mar 05, 2019,01:41 AM

Today, let's go back to THE original Laureato.

The very first from 1975 in steel with blue Clous-de-Paris dial.

35mm diameter but great presence on the wrist.

Very thin but Quartz movement, it was cutting edge at that time!

I particularly like the Bracelet, it is slim, but solid and very comfortable. It just looks classy.

Best,

CC

It is often hard to beat the original, like take the Royal Oak 5402

but I also like the modern adaptations, the 8010 and the current Laureato.

From the original Laureato, yes, the all steel with blue Clous-de-Paris I like best

of all Laureatos, I think there are a few other candidates

This is an important part of the GP history!

Both in regards of the Laureato and for the Quartz movements! The standard GP set with these Quartz movements is still in use by many brands today! Best Blomman

G-P played important role in first days of quartz. If not mistaken "their frequency" became officially accepted in quartz watches. Very cool time capsule with excellent dial. Cheers D

Absolutely correct as or my reply to Blomman

This is a good looking watch from GP ...

If only it had a mechanical movement to match its looks.

Very cool to see the original.

The 35mm size is perfect. So, how many weeks do we get a Laureato a day?

Thanks J K. The colour is also very nice, hard to see in photos

it is a very nice greyish blue.

I'll dispute "but quartz" here...

We all know that nowadays quartz movements and watches are almost always synonym for el-cheapo watches, if you don't go over super high precision multi quartz/thermo compensated models. But back in the days when this was in the shop windows quartz was see...

Many thanks for your thoughts

I have of course made peace with the Quartz movement in the first Laureato as you rightly pointed out how important and cutting edge it was at that time. Collectible? Very! Nostalgic feelings that it does not have a mechanical movement? Yeah, still there ...

Great Watch, desperately looking for replacement part (inductor)

Had sent my watch to GP for repair, but unfortunately they have no more spare parts. The inductor is broken. Any suggestions for help are welcome. Have received my GP 4266 about 40 years ago as a gift. A beautiful watch, very accurate and reliable.

Check out...
