Chopard

Mar 31, 2022,16:20 PM

You know? I am biffledinked why there isn't more on Chopard LUC. Their designs are really interesting whilst their quality is equal to the highest available. Considering that their relative pricing is very reasonable.

I rocked up to their stand and almost immediately bumped into KFS (Aiyah!! What a charmer!), we had a pleasant chat. He has that extraordinary gift of making you feel that you are the most important person in the room (which I am most definately not!). He seemed pumped about the latest designs and said that he would join my viewing later. I didn't think he'd actually come because the stand was buzzing with important people, but it had been an honour to talk to him anyway.

Top honours must go to the incredible Full Strike sapphire.
The whole thing is machined from sapphire: the case (!!!!), winder, plates, chiming gongs, etc. A technical tour-du-force. A demonstration of their depth of design and manufacturing skill. At the very bleeding cutting edge
of watch making.

Then, my personal favourite, the Jumping Hour, Grand Feu enamel dial, flawless execution. Perfect on my wrist.

Their interesting new design direction: restraint, class and elegance. Although my crappy pics don't show it, the chapter rings 'float' above the dial. A mesmerizing effect.

It was at roughly this point that KFS joined us. I said that I adored the whole new range and the subtle detailing. We were looking at the new Strike1.
The gongs are now of sapphire and have a beautiful resonant sound, even an old geezer like me could appreciate it.
He got quite enamoured talking about the on button pusher in the crown. Looking at it you can see why, a lovely piece of design and engineering.

Then we moved on to the 1860 series with flying tourbillon and ultra-slim movements. The subtle olive green, mediterranean blue and deep brown. What elegant beautiful watches they are.
Then we chatted for about ten minutes and, of course, he went to speak to sales prospects.

I came out of their stand feeling delighted at what I had see,,, but completely bewildered by the lack of love that they receive from world of watch aficianados at large.

Thanks for reading,,

Regards

Antony

Jealous

Best Ant, they are jealous. For decades they are jealous, and called Chopard the clochards from Geneva. We know better and love the maison. The gong of the repeaters are sounding terrific. I watched WA who demonstrated the watches. A huge out of reach for...

I agree with you

As KFS said

Chopard is killing it lately...

If you are a jeweler, you can't be a haute horologer, need to spin off LUC away from Chopard Happy Sport and Mille Miglia. S

Is proof that you can. I know that the brand snobs turn up their noses but with the new direction of much smaller batches... It is their loss. Regards Antony

Agree with this. There’s a lot of talk of value etc nowadays.

I recently purchased a white gold LUC 1905 Quattro and I am just stunned by the workmanship on this piece. The word that best describes my feeling looking at it is “clarity”. The indices, dial and hands are razor sharp. Simply lovely. Held next to my Vach...

That's sharp 👍

The LUC pieces are definitely well appreciated here on WPS! Although, you're right! We do have even more to talk about!

We used to be!

We used to be. However, our former Chopard moderator, MTF, has unfortunately retired and nobody really took his place. I miss MTF and his great posts about Chopard very much!

It's sad

 By: ant : April 5th, 2022-16:29
that now Chopard is really getting into their stride that there isn't more on them. Sigh!! Kind regards Antony

Indeed!

Also, this year, is a hard year. With the COVID restrictions, it's difficult to get our usual moderator team into W&W. I myself usually attend in person. But this year I was only invited to attend virtually. It's not the same. And you don't see everything...

What bothers me is that they replace the classic logo.

The newer one looks so generic. Speaks nothing.

classy and elegant design. If it were PP or VC there would be a waiting list. A crazy world. Kind regards Antony

The Saphire case is exceptional!

That’s what I like about the smaller brands they are not afraid to take a risk and this one is a home run!

My observation

 By: ant : April 5th, 2022-16:36
is that KFS really likes a challenge and throwing down the gauntlet, so far many of his incredible masterpieces are unique in their concept and execution. Kind regards Antony

Chopard is HIGHLY underappreciated and undervalued Ant and this year's releases are no exception. I was with a small group of collectors at W&W and saw this pieces as well...

KFS was also with us and was gracious as usual. His parents were actually there as well so it was a cool moment since we took photos with them. I might have a little surprise in store so stay tuned 😉

Surprise? Is it Christmas?
