Time to go diving!

Hello, friends,

Last week I had the opportunity to take a trip down to beautiful Mérida, Yucatán, and enjoy the area both above and underwater, as I enjoyed 2 days of diving cenotes about an hour south of the city.

Naturally, I had to choose a suitable dive watch for such occasion and I brought with me my most recent arrival, a Bathyscaphe reference 5100 in 38mm, which has become my go to watch, and for which I plan to share a review soon.

For the time being, please enjoy the photos from this outing. Apologies if some photos are less than stellar, but they are screen captures from video recordings from my oldie Go Pro.

Happy Bubbles and cheers to all,

Alex

Very nice. I think in photo 8 you've discovered an alien skull.

Hehehe, wish I could claim that discovery…

According to historians, the Mayans used cenotes as gateways to the afterlife, hence skulls and bones have been discovered in some of them. Cheers, Alex

My pleasure, Fab!

They are not far from the city, but feel remote and like going back in time. Abrazo!

Thanks for sharing!

Beautiful watch and great pics! I've done recreational diving but never tried cave before, looks magical, does it require some special certification?

There are a couple of certifications one could benefit from

Either cave or cavern, but in my case, and since I only have advanced open water, we only dove in parts of the cave with plenty of clearance and no tight tunnels, which made it very enjoyable and relaxing. For sure I recommend it to anyone keen on diving!...

Thanks for sharing the images of such a great diving experience!
