A day at the farm

 By: batholith : August 1st, 2020-05:14
An entertaining day at the farm today. Got to school a baby Agamid lizard in what makes a No Rads Fifty Fathoms a decent watch and former scorpion student came around to show his appreciation later. ...

Hehe! [nt]

Although I would hate to wear these critters!

These big ones

aren't so bad, their sting doesn't hurt that much. The small ones, though!

I never understood that cloth strap

It has leather on the underside. Doesnโ€™t water ruin it? One reason I sold my fifty fathoms was because of the hex screws and no strap optjons from blancpain with insane prices.... now I see you swimming and am wondering if the strap is really water proof?...

Is there a version with leather?

I have the standard sailcloth strap and it has no leather, just rubberized backing.

You are correct

Mine had the same soft rubber backing and I just thought that was for comfort but could not be submerged due to the cloth. I always thought that once it gets wet it would be drenched and hard to dry but I never actually gave it a try

I wash the strap occasionally

It dries overnight with no problem for sure. It's not the most hardwearing strap though; would not call it a tool watch strap.

I am swimming and diving since 12 years three FFโ€™s on the original canvas strap and I never had to change one yet...

The underside is rubberized and both sides are practically indestructible. My assumption has always been that to destroy the underside one would have to keep using it in salty water and never cleanse it afterwards. The best dive strap I have ever encounte...

Agreed

Both of mine have been extensively and roughly used in all sorts of water, tropical weather, workouts, with no problems whatsoever.

As Dte said, rubber.

No problem getting it wet and has held up well over the years. This particular version does come with an extra rubber strap as well.

Yes, no doubt it is a nice watch
