In 2017 Blancpain introduced the first Fifty Fathoms in titanium, ref 5015-12B40 with a blue sunburst dial and a blue sapphire bezel combined with a satin brushed case. Last year a black version, ref 5015-12B30, followed.
Last week I had the opportunity to capture both versions in a joint photo session, the blue titanium FF on a Nato strap with tang buckle and the black watch on the well-known sailcloth strap with titanium deployant.
The goal was to capture both watches under similar light conditions and in the same settings. Before we go into the differences, here are some shots of the joint titanium case and calibre 1315, which is visible through a sapphire case back.
The blue watch appears to be more lively, which is due to the play of light on the blue sunburst dial. The black titanium FF is more subtle and classic, but no less attractive.
The 20mm deployant is available only for the sailcloth strap, and it is a perfect addition to the watch. With the deployant the weight distribution on the wrist is optimized, it also helps to reduce wear and tear of the strap. The Nato strap comes on a 23mm tang buckle, satin brushed to match the case.
Here are some wrist shots under comparable light conditions to close this short comparison.
I hope you enjoyed the photos!
Cheers
