I think the case looks potentially very interesting. I'm a fan of scalloped or skeletonised lugs.

You can't knock them for trying to produce something new.  It may be an instant hit, it may be a sleeper with a slow build or it could tank but everyone will have to agree them doing this makes it interesting for us.

I do wonder whether or not they should be looking back to some of the vintage AP references for inspiration.  Of course should they just replicate one of those there will be a lot of us here that would say "lazy, they are not being progressive etc etc" but if it was the right reference I'm not sure that would even be a bad thing from our perspective.  The interesting question for me on that would be whether or not AP believe a watch like this could even sell to their existing customer base.

Seeing in the flesh is everything however it seems big and bulky, almost hybrid like between Sports and Dress ala Skydweller if you will. Nothing I see to make me reach into my wallet which is disappointing

Poor chaps? Sounds offensive...

try to find a new model what even can get close to the popularity of RO but it seems impossible.

LOL. Don't cry too much for AP.

the whole industry is suffering to find their new icons w/o serious success .

I agree with you, Passionista

It worked wonders with 15202

Keep the reveals coming.

Skeletonised lugs are sweet! Sweep seconds hand. Check! Arabic numerals. Check! Size. Hmmmm, not sure. Date aperture at 4:30. Hmmm, not sure. I'm eager to see more. M4

The case and dial/hands hands just looks a bit mismatched.

I guess there is a way you could blend classic with the more modern hollow design but from this first glimpse i just dosnt look rigth.

I can't wait to see this case. It looks great to me.

I LOVE the structural aspect of the construction.

MichaelC, if you love the structural aspect of that case

Come all the way to the dark side and get a De Bethune DB28 😀 Takes that design theme to an extreme and will look great in your watch box next to your Freak. Hope you’re having a great start to 2019! NickO

Case looks very interesting

but the dial is giving me JLC Polaris and VC FiftySix vibes - I hope it doesn't veer into 'generic sport watch' territory (not that I have anything against either of those watches).

Can't wait!

This is clearly going to be a very polarizing release from AP and I feel like we have been misled from the few drawings and leaks that we've seen. So far I've seen a perpetual calendar version, a chronograph version, and now what looks like a time and dat...

Incongruous

I'll wait to see the final version, of course, but as others have pointed out, the case seems incongruous with the dial and hands. The case=modern, almost architectural The dial & hands=more classic and staid I'll avoid saying too much about the date ...
