The case size of course, but also the aesthetics.  I don't like the use of colored gold on the bridges of the double balance wheel newer model.  39 for me smile

Beautiful. The absence of gold on bridge, etc makes the piece more legible in my opinion. Those hands really pop [nt]

More than 39 mm is Bulcky and the Spirit of Royal Oak started with 39 mm .
