Jaeger Lecoultre Master Grande Memovox, Limited Edition in Platinum.
Jul 09, 2020,10:03 AM
There are very few pictures of the Grande Memovox in platinum which are nice.
I found one from Christies, which usually use good pictures, but here, well, not their best:
And another one, not bad at all, from " Watchbox ":
During my last visit at the Manufacture, in... April 2019, I asked the Heritage Gallery to let me take some pictures of it.
Here they are:
One of the reasons of this relative scarcity is that it is a limited edition of 250 pieces. Launched in the very early 2000's, this Grande Memovox is quite eye catching, with its platinum case and its blue dial.
The combination of a perpetual calendar and an alarm is pretty unique, only Jaeger Lecoultre could imagine that, as the Alarm is one of the Grande Maison Speciality, as you well know.
It sounds like a crystalline school bell, which is pretty pleasing.
The perpetual calendar is complete and can be set through one pusher, located at 8 o' clock. You also have a moon phase,
The movement, the Cal 909, is automatic, which is a good thing for a perpetual calendar.
The dial is busy, with its 8 hands and 4 sub dials, but well balanced.
Eye catching, nice looking, exclusive in platinum, this version also has some flaws:
- It is a bit bold, with its 41, 5 mm case which is pretty thick, with a height of... 15, 5 mm!
- It is heavy, very heavy in platinum.
- It is not very comfortable with its decorated and bombed case back.
- It was a very expensive one, at that time.
But God knows how tempted I was, and not only once, to get it! The most problematic thing was the retail, for me.
One day, maybe...
Best,
Nicolas
