JLC is open and my Duometre is back home!

Wohoo! My Duometre is finally back from service after having spent most of the covid lockdown at the service center in TX. I dropped it off back in January or February after noticing they did a crap job remounting the time PR and foudroyante hands during service, they agreed, and it was waiting new hands from Switzerland when the shutdowns occurred. Apparently the Richemont service center has been open this entire time but with JLC in Switzerland closed they just had to wait. I'm happy to say the watch has come back with the previous issues corrected and the movement is super clean even under a loupe. Unfortunately, it also came back with a new issue, the minute wheel for the digital minute counter is off 30 seconds. WTF Richemont. I give up with them for now. I'd rather keep the watch and maybe one of these days I'll have to fly to Switzerland, go to JLC, and drop the watch off myself.

FWIW, the NYC boutique is now open but by appointment only. They offered to have my Duometre delivered to me but since I needed to send my EL2 in for service it seemed easier to stop by the boutique. It sounds like they've been busy during the lockdowns corresponding with customers remotely and having items delivered even while the the storefront was closed. It's great to hear they've been active and continuing these past few months. One thing to note, they now require gloves so bring your own. They have disposables but only in a size M so if you have chubby paws like me, it's going to be funny. Bring lube.

On a side note, they asked if I was interested in the new Memovox Timer and I told them it looks beautiful and I think they really nailed it but I'm saving my pennies for an Extreme Lab 3 or a Split Seconds Duometre. They said they didn't know anything about future releases but if a split second Duometre did exist it might be a 2021 release and they would call me when the "new sports watch" comes in later this year wink

Oh, no custom straps for the Extreme Lab 2 no matter how many we order. Boo.

If a LAB 3 does see the daylight...

What collection will it currently fall under? Will it be a new collection? Are the LAB pieces still available from JLC? I’m wondering how big or small they might go with the LAB 3... the 1 was an absolute killer piece.

I’m curious as to both of these pieces...

And what sort of price they will command?

Who knows... ;) [nt]

I think you might know. 😂

So will we need to win the lottery to afford the LAB3? 😉

What about the Kidney as well...

That’s it starts to hurt.

Congrats on getting the Duometre back but what is this nonsense with the JLC service center?

I don't want to sound harsh but this was why I was questioning how and why the service center could have serviced your Duometre when I was under the impression that the watch would have to return to JLC Switzerland. Sorry for the continued problems but ag...

Not harsh at all, this is crazy! This kind of service is a real let down.

How are people supposed to feel good about purchasing a JLC complication when they can't feel confident that it can be reliably serviced? In my mind a big part of the distinction between going with an independent vs a brand like JLC is knowing (err... bel...

Here are my thoughts:

I have owned JLC watches for nearly 3 decades (since the late 90s). What I can say is that I have never had a problem with any of my JLC watches being serviced in the US service center prior but NONE of those earlier watches were as complicated as a Duome...

Thanks for the advice!

 By: Fastwong : June 27th, 2020-10:45
I was with the understanding that the more complicated models went back to JLC also. The boutique manager explained to me they don't have an option, they must send models to Richemont and from there the service center will determine which watches do go ba...

Well this seems strange at best. Maybe a COVID-19 issue. I know for a FACT that I have sent back JLC watches to the manufacturer so maybe things have changed since then...

regardless, I would request the watch goes directly back to the JLC manufacturer, especially after what happened with your Duometre. I am sure the boutique manager will make it happen considering the circumstances, if not, let us know. I am sure writing t...

Thank you!

I just wanted to say thank you for the support and advice! After talking to JLC customer service and reconnecting with the manager of the NYC boutique my EL2 was sent back to the manufacture. Finally. It was like pulling teeth but I'm happy things worked ...

For sure +1 [nt]

A Duometre is indeed a "complication" as it is serviced and assembled in their HIGH complication department 😁😜

No idea how and why JLC North America has that policy of sending watches back to their service center in TX. Could be due to turnaround time for the customer and also to minimize work done by the manufacturer in Switzerland. Happy that you got everything ...

Yes, I confirm. [nt]

Must be that new JLC 8 year warranty 😉

Gotta get servicing costs down...

Your Duometre is superb, but man . . .

Richemont needs to get its act together on the service end. I've never heard nor experienced anything but negatives about the operation in Texas. M4

🤪😪😡🤬 [nt]

How did you manage the lockdoan without the Duomètre on your wrist?

 By: eklektik : June 30th, 2020-04:55
What a beautiful watch! All this service story is a real shame though... Best, E.

Indeed! [nt]

Duometre out for service, Extreme Lab awaiting service, it was rough
