This brand is so cool and fun... yes, not to be taken 'seriously'... but so fun and so cool! I admit if money ran out of the faucet, I would love to have a few of the objects Marc Newsom creates...
But it also has the ring of the emperor's new clothes... sort of an empty fashion thing... the hourglass, while, so cool, is kind of absurd... shrug... it is the epitome of appealing to the 'stupidity' of the very rich... or appealing perhaps to the 'boredom' of the idle rich... "Oh, what should I do today to assuage my boredom? Buy an Hourglass... yes, buy an Hourglass..."
Like the old saying about CHinese food, these are objects that make you want another object one hour after buying them. 
Just my take.

Somehow, although never interested enough to buy one, I've always found several of their designs interesting and intriguing in a positive way. That Atmos and Hour Glass side by side is a smasher of a pic.
