An Odd Bird...
Oct 11, 2021,18:36 PM
For some reason or another, I was drawn to this odd bird of a watch. This is the Hermes H08 in a limited edition colorway from Hodinkee.
It has a ceramic bezel, and the remainder of the case is DLC coated titanium. The color is accurately pictured.
The watch is extremely comfortable. It sits very, very nicely on my wrist. And it is so light that I almost forget that it is on. It is slim enough to slip under a cuff, but I think it is more at home with casual garb.
The strap and deployant are both very comfortable as well. However, I will say - the crazy deployant that Hermes came up with adds a considerable amount of thickness to the watch (since the watch is thick on both sides). I look forward to trying this on a nato or perlon strap.
The color of this watch is abnormal. I put it in the category of "fun watch," kind of like an orange Doxa. However, at the same time - and unlike the orange Doxa - it jibes with the color palette of the clothing that I typically wear. Beiges, creams, greens. In other words, the color stands out - but it is not because the colors themselves stand out, but rather because the colors used are abnormal in the scheme of men's watches. The watch does not look very serious - some may say that it looks like a fashion watch. However, the finishing is really lovely, and it is hard to take off the wrist!
Have not had it on for long - however, it is difficult for me to put anything else on!
