Its the hair spring that would get magnetized...right ? Or are there other complications with magnetization that I'm missing? Or something else...?

Yes a silicon hairspring helps reduce the possibility. This is where METAS certification has benefits.

Oh no, most of the watches suffer from our magnetic environment. Go think about that: Your Lab Top is more than 1, 000 Gauss. Your Cell phone too! Even a hair dryer is 400 gauss!

Hope you get it back soon! If it was indeed magnetized i would suggest you get a demagnetizer for future use...i have one and i must use it at least once every two months or so even if i am careful with my watches not being close to my phone, laptop, etc

never been magnetized. I take some careful actions when i do not lay a watch on my magnet iPhone cover. Only my quartz equipped Longines Conquest can rest on my iPhone cover and my Omega Seamaster that resist 15000 Gauss. By the way, i fully understand a ...
