H. Moser Venturer Vantablack Quick Review of New Incoming 2022
This is a quick Review of the H. Moser Venturer Vantablack.
I always loved the H. Moser "concept" idea: a dial without branding is certainly odd in luxury watches. The Dia in the the Venturer 39mm is not just black but in Vantablack®, a special material invented at the University of Surrey composed of vertically aligned nanotubes arrays capable of absorbing 99.965% of light. In other words the most black of blacks.
This is makes it incredibly hard to photograph so I apologize if the quality doesn't appear as high 🧐 unfortunately even small parts of dust in the sapphire glass will appear in my macro mode. (I noticed a similar issue with venturer cases, perhaps is the doomed sapphire crystal too ?)
The hands are also black but you can clearly see the contrast with the much darker Vantablack.
The movement is the H. Moser Hand-wound HMC 327 Manufacture calibre with the following specifications:
Diameter: 32.0 mm or 14 ¼ lignes/height: 4.5 mm
Frequency: 18,000 Vib/h
29 jewels
Power reserve: minimum of 3 days
Hacking seconds
Moser teeth for all wheels and pinions
Movement and components hand-finished and decorated
Moser balance and original Straumann® Hairspring
It is certainly a nice looking movement, The case for this model is in white gold.
the strap is a very nice matte alligator with the gold pin buckle, very comfortable like other H. Moser watches.
Photography issues aside 😁 I really love with this watch. No branding, very discreete and a unique Vantablack that is darker than anything I have seen (much darker than the dial in the Omega Dark Side of the Moon Black Black which seems much more grey/charchoal) compared to this. I was thrilled when this model was released in 2020 but, since it was in the middle of the pandemic, I didn't have the chance to see it in person. Stars aligned and I had to get it!
Among the 3 versions (tourbillon, the larger venturer in steel) this is my favourite because of the size (39mm) and white gold (strangely the larger steel version costs the same!).
Another aspect that I like is how elegant and understated it is. No branding yet an amazing watch that can be enjoyed everday. What do you think ?

frankly I am getting a bit tired of the general hype in some watches. I don't wear since a long time some of the AP and PP I have, even Rolex sometimes feeel too much. I am in a very safe city but may be trophy pieces don't make me comfortable anymore!

Thank you Filip! The curious thing is that the small dots of dust over the sapphire crystal
are not really seen without a macro lens so it might look messy but in reality looks much better somehow!

A bit gimmicky
Vantablack is pointless under a shiny sapphire crystal that reflects a lot of light.
yes you might have a point ! Now, in fairness I don't know if this version has more reflections than the other 2
in the hodinkee review www.hodinkee.com there is almost no reflection but I assume is thanks to their cameras? I noticed the reflection when I tried it but so far it doesn't bother me. I am just wondering how it would look with 0 reflections, may ...
We need more unbranded watches. It should be enough for the wearer to know what he/she is wearing. Who wants to be a walking advertising plackard for a brand, eh?
As for your Vantablack, it's excellent. I didn't realise it was the size it is, which makes it all the more appealing: modest, discreet, and engrossing. Thanks for the photos and the review. An enjoyable read.
