Spent an hour with the Frodsham watches
Sep 14, 2018,03:07 AM
All,
I had the good fortune of spending about an hour with Richard Stenning of Frodsham yesterday and got to see the new watches. A lot has been said about this watch and the the
SJX article that Spangles shared the other day provides photos better than mine and provides a lot of good information about the development of the watch. So I just want to add my thoughts and a few images.
In short, I have not had such a visceral, positive reaction to seeing a watch in person since I handled the Roger Smith Great Britain watch for the first time. The feel of the final product (the bluing of the hands, the feel of winding, the casework, the fineness of the dial printing, etc.) was beyond my (high) expectations. While I personally don't think size is a very relevant factor when discussing such a singular watch, I found the size very comfortable and attractive on my wrist thanks to the design of the lugs. This is, of course, all in addition to the intellectual satisfaction of the escapement.
The dial is not only beautiful, but robust. I got to handle a sample of the dial material and watched Richard bang it on the edge of the table without effect on the dial.
I could go on, but I'd just be reiterating how much I like the watch so I'll just post some pics:
Cheers,
Brandon
