Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Manufacture Platinum, 2014 Edition.

Nov 12, 2018,11:38 AM

It has been a long time we didn't see this watch, unveiled in 2014, much wiser than the former ones, the El Toro, and even before the Perpetual GMT.

Cleaner case and dial, less original hands. But always the same friendly movement which allows you to set the calendar forward AND backward, THROUGH the crown.

It came in other dial variations, in blue and in black.

43 mm case.

Since then, Ulysse Nardin came back to the roots, with the Classic Perpetual, wiser, smaller ( 41 mm ) and more affordable, as a bit below 20, 000 Euros, in steel.

So the Perpetual Manufacture from 2014 seems to be the last of the Mohicans, for the Perpetual Calendars from Ulysse Nardin.

But it is something apart, in terms of friendliness and aesthetics... No moon phase, very pure look.

Best,

Nicolas

... So beautiful. Question: Does the movement allow for the watch to be adjusted backwards? It is a GMT, after all. - Scott

Yes! [nt]

A very good review and breakdown of the UN GMT Perpetual

Hi Scott, if you ever wanted a really good insight into the UN GMT Perpetual, check out M. Hanke's "Tales from the crypt: In-depth review of the Ulysse Nardin GMT Perpetual" - can be found on this forum. A really good review of the timepiece. Kind regards...

Hard to believe it is 4 years already!

Would this fit a 6.5 inch wrist?

 By: EWY : August 26th, 2019-12:36
I have been lurking for a while and I am a fan of these Ulysse Nardin Perpetual Calendar GMT watches. These 2014 limited editions are still available for purchase. I am not sure if this would be too big on my 6.5” wrist. Should I look for a 40 mm or a 38....

No, it is ok. [nt]

These UN Perpetual GMT watches are out of production. I do not see them in the current UN line up of 2019 watches. I was able to locate some on the web. I am not even sure that my local AD has any. That is why I am posting this question here. I have a Rol...

Close but no cigar

I saw that but this does not have the GMT function. I need it for overseas travel.

When I purchased it, it did not appear to be popular. Most GMT/GM 2 were getting the Oyster Bracelets. I thought why followed everyone so I got the GMT 2 with the Jubilee Bracelet. Little did I know that Rolex issued GMT 2 with Jubilee Bracelet again. Now...

There seems to be a certain confusion of terms ...

... so permit me to straighten things a bit. In case I misunderstood your statement, I apologize. You wrote: "The Perpetual GMT combines my DD and GMT 2 functions." No, the UN GMT perpetual does much more than that. I am aware that Rolex traditionally use...

Perpetual watches probably needs to be adjusted also.

 By: EWY : September 4th, 2019-00:02
OK! I am going to rephrase that. The UN GMT Perpetual combines both of my Rolex DD and GMT2 functions plus more. The DD only provides Day Date function but the UN GMT Perpetual would provide a full Calendar. Giving me Year, Month, Day and Date. I know tha...

Not all of them were chronometers ...

Only the limited editions, then "Sonata perpetual", the Toro and the 2014 version depicted above. the latest SS GMT perpetual isn't. Marcus

38.5mm?

 By: EWY : September 4th, 2019-01:45
How about the ones that were 38.5mm UN Perpetual Calendar GMT that were released in 1999? Are these COSC certified? Since I have a smaller waist, I am looking for the smaller ones. I guess I could also wear a UN Perpetual Calendar GMT 40mm LE as my Rolex ...

38.5mm - not COSC, but minor detail(s) to be aware of

 By: Eddie1 : September 5th, 2019-19:50
Although not a certified chronometer, I do find that the 38.5mm keeps pretty good time (I believe a 1-minute per month variation was mentioned by Marcus previously). What I like about the 38.5mm is that it has 2 luminous dots above 12 o'clock (which I thi...
