Mt. Asama is an active volcano...
The rocks you see in the foreground are very small examples of what has been hurled from the mountain... there are a lot of stone fences in the area.

It a bit of an anomaly, but this part of Nagano gets very little snow...
the Northern Alps on the other hand... I am gearing up my laptop to process files from the Canon 5D... I miss using all the filters for effect. Casey .
