The Neighborhood...

Jun 09, 2021,05:00 AM

As some of you know, I have been spending some time near Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture... quite a bit of time actually and the plan is for most of the summer.  I want to avoid the heat and humidity of Tokyo and to be honest I don't want to be in the city when/if the Olympics are in town.  I have an opinion on the latter but keep it to myself ;-)

This morning I took a walk with my Fuji x100t to try and capture a little bit of the atmosphere of the neighborhood.  Hope you can enjoy the view along the way...

Thanks for looking,
Casey

The only thing I miss about Tokyo is the ease & abundance of public transportation

here in Nagano you need a car and fortunately / unfortunately I don't drive anymore. The license is still valid but will not be renewed at the next renewal date. Haven't driven in years and don't miss it at all ; ) Casey

we drive past number two on a regular basis and always remark on the view... the canal is a nice cool spot for a mid-day walk. 25°C and sunny tomorrow, nights are still cool... Tokyo is in the 30°C this week. Casey

A photo-shoot would be great... that little cabin in the woods that I stayed last year is about 15 min walk

They have a number of different sized cabins... Nagano City is an hour away and the Northern Alps are close as well... lot's to do and see in the area. Casey

My buddy is back to Tokyo this week and I asked him to pick up the smaller of my two electronic camera dry-boxes...

it might get a little humid later in the summer / early autumn... I get my second vaccination on 22-June so I might feel more comfortable for a couple of days in the capital as the summer progresses... Casey

it's so nice to have somewhere to retreat to away from the city, a luxury we don't get over here
