This old house reminds me of the discussion about "what we photograph and how we photograph it".  It doesn't need to be pretty, well composed, or even in focus nor does it need a layered fore- middle- back-ground using the rule of thirds.

On Sunday at Kinokuniya in Shinjuku I found...

"Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates
"Americanah" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
"In a House of Lies" by Ian Rankin

I wanted to pick up "A Village Life" by Louise Glück, a book of poetry, but the book store didn't have a copy in stock.

Today was full with errands in the neighborhood, daily stuff... check in with the doctor, visit the dentist, pick up some groceries (brown rice, bananas, yogurt, fruit, ... a bottle of riesling... the essentials). This house is around the corner... it's j...

more interesting than " Little Boxes... made out of ticky tacky. And they all look just the same ". But that's an interesting subject to photograph as well.... Casey

I though it came from a book ... something I would consider reading. The photo also captured my attention - superb composition. Chapter 2 will be a nice follow up.

Is that things like this change very slowly. Nice houses change ownership in 5-7 years on average here. But hoarders stay til they die. So don’t buy next door to a hoarder! Especially don’t think that he (or she) will soon move and the kids will clean it ...

reminds me of the beautiful homes in Santa Fe, New Mexico... and if you ever need a real estate agent there, let me know... ; ) Here it's more what's on the inside of the home rather than the outside. It's all about the living space... mind you a view of ...

perhaps a naive question Casey..

is this in Japan..?? somehow, it doesn't fit for me into a Japanese street scene... as I said...probably bit naive...

Izhik... you must visit Japan some day...

and yes, my "neighbor" lives in Tokyo... it's funny about our impressions and what has gone into forming these mental images. For example the most recent stats regarding population and areas... Japan: 126.8 million / 378,000 km 2 California: 39.5 million ...

it's not that I must....I MUST...obviously....

you are right of course Casey and I admitted that...somehow, in my perception, I would not at first instance associate that interesting scene with...Japan...modernism, mainly sky scratch buildings...
