Are sector dials making a come back?

Jan 23, 2017,00:48 AM

I've always liked this one though, irrespective of the current trend. I guess everything goes around in circles and I'm waiting for the day when decent size watches with refinement become popular again.smile

As this is my only watch with such a dial, it would be interesting to see other watches with sector dials.

Look forward to seeing them here. If you have them pls. post. smile

Thanks for looking.

Truly superb piece dear Pa Yours D

Very nice classic chrono dial layout

This has got to be one of the most outstanding chrono layout since vintage era very nice indeed

You welcome :)

I think the only other closest modern vintage style chrono would be the recent Vacheron Constantin Historiques Cornes de Vache 1955 Chronograph, its very beautiful but very expensive since its made platinum.... well.... i could only admire from the window...

Correct.

A BIG +1 on "decent size watches with refinement". Sadly...

 By: Kamy : January 23rd, 2017-03:50
... I can't find a single watch in Roger Dubuis' current collection that I find remotely appealing! But yours is a thing of beauty Wear it in good health... Cheers, Kamy

Thank you Kamy!

I wonder why my RD collection isn't growing.

During Dias era RD achieved more consensus

Several new movements each year (with some reliability's problems) with a unique design. Maybe too show off, too big, but the quality was by far above the average. They made one of the best chrono caliber ever, excalibur with micro rotor; under Richemont ...

That's a beautiful chronograph.

Thanks for sharing. Sorry I don't have a sector dial to share here. M4

Thank you. [nt]

 By: radone : January 23rd, 2017-05:43
but a good occasion to post my RD Chrono ...

Thanks for sharing. [nt]

Wow that RD chrono is stunning!

 By: NT931 : January 23rd, 2017-06:08
I immediately went and Googled it ;-) As for sector dials, it's interesting to see how they've unexpectedly had a mini resurgence in interest . I really like their vintage look, though I only have one modern one ...

Thanks Fernando!

Btw how big is your RD chronograph? I find it rather tempting... ;-)

Oh my 37mm is perfect for a dress chrono!

 By: NT931 : January 24th, 2017-08:33
Now to start googling further to see if any are on sale... thanks!

A true beauty.

Thanks for sharing - love manual wind chronos especially the less common ones!

My Sector dial in 2 layer enamel...

Yes

Crazy how that Dubuis is almost a TWIN of the new JLC chrono. In a way this is why I'm less easily moved by really almost all new watches... there is virtually nothing the great Swiss or Germans have not done.. and I say this with greatest passion for all...

Well said Mostel! [nt]

I am not so sure about sector dials, but what I really would love to see coming back...

 By: Ornatus-Mundi : January 23rd, 2017-22:41
are Roger Dubuis watches of this class and elegance. Your specimen is a superb example of a holistically conceived watch according to the good old Genevan school of yesterday. Thank you for sharing! Best, Magnus

I agree Magnus. Thanks! [nt]

What an awesome watch

 By: reintitan : January 24th, 2017-01:11
The dial and movement are just superb. The current stable of RD watches look like they come from a Bizarro-world version of this watch.

absolutely a stunning piece!

 By: zizi w. : January 24th, 2017-21:14
What is the reference number of this RD chrono? May be on my next buy list haha....(hope it is not a unique piece Cheers, Vin

Well, none of the new releases this year are nearly as nice as yours!

 By: MichaelC : February 2nd, 2017-08:00
Yes, we saw multiple new "sector" dials this year. But yours is purely awesome, I can't say that about any of the others. Thanks for sharing it here!

Another keeper! ;) [nt]

Roger Dubuis Sector dial

 By: Jksinger18 : July 18th, 2017-14:23
Hello I collect Roger Dubuis pre 2004 hommage chronographs and perpetuals as well as early sympathy watches. Do you have any RD watches in these categories for sale or do you know of any dealers or collectors who might want to sell these watches? Thank yo...

Roger Dubuis H37

Dear Fernando, I couldn't help but admire this watch. In case you are ever willing to sell it, please get in touch. Best Regards, Mustafa

Roger at his best...

very good looking watch. R D can make some great watches when they leave out the “bling” factor.

Hello Fernando

What a beautiful watch you got! It has all the traits to be considered a classic! Please, share more pics! Wear it in good health! René

What a beauty!

May I ask lug length and width? I have previously tried a 40mm hommage which I enjoyed but felt borderline large even though I could easily be happy with that size. Out of curiosity wondering how much smaller this measures from lug to lug as well as width...

Thanks, I'll get back to you with the details..

 By: fernando : June 30th, 2019-19:50
in about 3 weeks. I dont have the watch with me as I'm travelling. It is comparable with the 5110 with 19mm width between lugs if I remember correctly. cheers fernando

Thanks!

I just saw a review online of another 37mm rd with similar case. Appears to be 44.2nm length and 18mm width between lugs. These are beautiful pieces, enjoy yours!
