Advice, please..

Thanks in advance;
Recently acquired a 5134P.
It’s currently with PP for a service.
When I dropped it off last week they asked if I wanted it polished. They said as the watch is new (to me) it would be worthwhile as it’d come back looking new.
Overall the condition is pretty good. They said it would only require fairly minor polishing to bring back to as new and it wouldn’t affect the original patina, edges, etc. However,
I’ve since read it’s best to avoid polishing. Or maybe that’s just “bad” polishing or over polishing?
I’d certainly never take the watch to my local jeweller to have a buff, but what’s the consensus on this? Is it “safe” to let PP polish or might this affect desirability in the future?
Appreciate this isn’t a particularly expensive watch, by PP standards, but it is for me and don’t want to do anything I’ll regret.

It's no longer that way after it's been polished. As amanico said: that's part of it's story
No need

if the watch is in very good condition then better to defer. Especially if you might want to sell at a later time, then my understanding is that most buyers would prefer it not have been polished. -a
No.

Do not polish that watch.

The price of a watch drops after a polish. Collectors usually prefer unpolished or in its original state but If I have a scratch or a ding that bothers me a lot, I would have it "fixed"otherwise I would leave it be.
Thanks
