ROFL!

 By: amanico : May 5th, 2022-15:45

Too funny!

 By: Centurionone : May 5th, 2022-17:49
I would also add the adjective "ugly"

I don't disagree with you!

 By: patrick_y : May 5th, 2022-20:30
I probably wouldn't call it ugly, but I definitely will say it's not an especially good looking vehicle at all. But this is the future! All cars will soon be amorphic and fish shaped. Look at the new Mercedes EQS, that's a fairly unattractive looking car!...

It is not ugly but it is monotonous, unimaginative, tasteless, boring and all of those combined

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-00:32
I agree it functions fine yet personally will definitely prefer Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, Toyota-Lexus electric . 🙂 just my preference

I'm sure they wanted a much nicer looking car...

 By: patrick_y : May 6th, 2022-17:24
But these things are often a compromise. The designers wanting their design. Engineers wanting their technical requirements. And in the end, coefficient of drag must be met - a hard requirement that nobody could compromise on. Thus, the designers had to c...

I agree a lot of thought

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-22:20
Perhaps I should say it is electric thus it can be different.

Electric can be different, but not too different.

 By: patrick_y : May 7th, 2022-02:04
Things that are different need to be a gradual transition. Function and art need to go hand in hand, and be in balance. So all that being said, we probably need nicer looking electric cars. BMW's new i4 and iX look "normal" enough, although some people ar...

yes I am with you function and art need to hand in hand and be in balance.

 By: Gelato Monster : May 7th, 2022-04:17
Perhaps car designer today is stretching their design language evolution to explore and build the younger generation taste. I just found this one example of even more radical exercise than the BMW grill. What is your opinion on this AMG🙂. to me it is a bi...

I can see what you mean by that one! Especially in the last photo!

 By: patrick_y : May 7th, 2022-15:41
Although when you tell people that the front of this Mercedes is designed to resemble the front of the G-Wagon Jeep... Then the Maserati idea quickly fades.

aah true

 By: Gelato Monster : May 7th, 2022-17:02

Yes, I heard (read) about this one...

 By: patrick_y : May 7th, 2022-15:40
It does indeed look very shocking. But if you come from USA, there are already cars that look like that. The Dodge Charger and Dodge Challenger have that look. This look harkens back to the 1960s where cars had this upfront design. The Chris Bangle era of...

aaa ok dodge.

 By: Gelato Monster : May 7th, 2022-15:49
you mean super high trunk lid is giving aero effect as long tail ? agree very modern.

Long tail and high trunk lid is a bit different...

 By: patrick_y : May 7th, 2022-15:53
Long tail streamlines the car and reduces drag. High trunk lid increases downforce (it's basically like a wing) and gives you more storage room in the trunk, without increasing drag significantly. You'll also sometimes see a small lip spoiler pressed into...

The one thing you should be concerned is weight...

 By: patrick_y : May 7th, 2022-15:49
Electric cars are SUPER heavy! Living in Singapore, it's less of an issue for you. But in USA or in Europe, where people drive faster, the significantly higher weight of an electric SUV or electric pick-up truck will mean that normal people in normal cars...

I own one of these Tesla Model 3 machines...

 By: patrick_y : May 5th, 2022-20:28
And even I have to say it is the most unattractive and fairly uninteresting car I've ever owned! The Model Y is even more unattractive! But as unattractive as my Tesla Model 3 is, I do have to say, it drives shockingly quite well! Double wishbone front su...

I think there will still be a use for cooling...

 By: mdg : May 5th, 2022-15:51
...although I must say that Teslas are not attractive cars imho...

I would have thought there would be fins, vents…SOMETHING???

 By: myles721 : May 5th, 2022-16:35
But apparently a curved piece of plastic and three giant electric motors can spank a Lambo (or any other ice) down a drag strip and leave it in the fetal position…who’d a thunk it🧐🤨🙄

I’m a little surprised that Porsche Taycan doesn’t get a lot more credit based on their effort and aesthetics.

 By: ArmisT : May 6th, 2022-01:01
Perhaps it’s because the Porsche purists find it hard to accept still.

There are a lot of them where I live...

 By: mdg : May 6th, 2022-04:58
...it seems to me that they are quite popular...

IMHO because Porsche continues to become better in everyway.

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-22:51
And in more way than its electric. Nonetheless IMHO Taycan is arguably the best electric for now.

If I were in the market...

 By: mdg : May 7th, 2022-15:59
...in that price range, I'd go for either the Taycan or the Audi GT E-tron. I've only seen two of the Audis on the road and they are beautiful...

definitely

 By: Gelato Monster : May 7th, 2022-17:09

Oh wow, I just looked up that Audi and it is something else 👌🏼

 By: ArmisT : May 7th, 2022-23:55
So these cars (and Porsche Turismo) would be direct competitors to Tesla Model S, correct? And since the Tesla is also notably expensive, would you expect that in time these other companies will overtake Tesla in EV sales? Or perhaps Tesla is staying appr...

A fascinating question…

 By: myles721 : May 8th, 2022-00:07
Full disclosure I am a Tesla shareholder…having said that my best friend is a head mechanic / service rep for Audi. Tesla as far as I know owns the chip space. (Proprietary) and all of the other makers will be at a serious disadvantage for another 3-4 yea...

Great points, thank you for making that distinction.

 By: ArmisT : May 8th, 2022-01:10
The evolution of this industry (and select others) is an amazing topic of discussion.

It was better before, indeed....

 By: amanico : May 5th, 2022-15:58
...

I agree!

 By: Emil Wojcik : May 5th, 2022-23:27
Although some cars are rather appealing without a substantial grille...but perhaps I'm biased. ...

I agree

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-22:52
Soon there will be nice looking grill-less electric

I doubt so... ;)

 By: amanico : May 7th, 2022-17:04

In total agreement.

 By: amanico : May 5th, 2022-17:00

+1

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-00:25

So true!

By: Chronometer (aka yacomino) : May 5th, 2022-18:16

The future is coming!

 By: patrick_y : May 5th, 2022-20:31
The future promises to bring cars that will be shaped like fish (like Tesla and the Mercedes-EQS) with headlights that are likely to be much smaller!

A couple of weeks ago....

 By: InHavenPro : May 5th, 2022-23:41
this is what I witnessed doing extensive testing on the streets of Santa Monica........ ...

Ahh, a Hyundai Ioniq 5!

 By: patrick_y : May 5th, 2022-23:56

Notice the disclosures on the labels!

 By: InHavenPro : May 6th, 2022-00:13
This one is a full self-driving version, the occupants inside the vehicle were merely observing and recording data on what the car was doing autonomously........

........

 By: InHavenPro : May 5th, 2022-23:39
...

;)

 By: InHavenPro : May 6th, 2022-00:08
And has one of the prettiest, hand-made grilles ever put into production........ Cheers, Filip

Drop dead gorgeous

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-00:26

Dare I say....

 By: InHavenPro : May 6th, 2022-04:49
even better than Gelato !! P.S. There are EXTERMELY few things in the world better than Gelato ....

At least Gelato is affordable!

 By: patrick_y : May 6th, 2022-17:27
Actually, I take that back. Here in San Francisco, an ice cream sundae at Smitten is now around $9! I can't afford that! I've got watch payments!

Damn!

 By: InHavenPro : May 6th, 2022-17:48
$9 for a single serving of gelato!

A single scoop is around $6 with taxes.

 By: patrick_y : May 6th, 2022-19:56
A single scoop at Smitten is around $6 with taxes. But I normally get two scoops which is over $8 with taxes. If you add any toppings like sprinkles or something like that, it quickly ascends to $10! A sundae which has around 2-3 scoops roughly in size is...

No wonder smitten is at that price.

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-22:28
Personally liquid nitrogen ice cream is not as good as regular Gelato/Ice Cream.

I agree!

 By: InHavenPro : May 6th, 2022-23:18
Old School all the way

i like old school gelato texture, crystalization and extravagantly rich taste. nothing is missing

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-23:37
its like comparing LP with the old 1990s DAC (nowadays DAC is much better 🙂)

I am 99% you 😁🍦

 By: Gelato Monster : May 6th, 2022-22:30
Few cars are the very few think that can defeat regular gelato. Unfortunately my development of taste and desire for multi sensory of ICE is soon going to stopped by the full electrification. Or should I say Fortunately so we can focus more on watches🙂. ...

Ok, ok... ;)

 By: amanico : May 6th, 2022-05:51

Looking for an interesting grill? . . .

 By: Dr No : May 9th, 2022-16:56
. . . '68 Cougar would be at the top . . . . . . of my list. ...

Always liked that one
