A legend, and even rarer in this color configuration: Jaguar XJ 220 Burgundy.

Apr 16, 2021,03:29 AM

Produced between 1990 and 1992 in a very short number of cars with only 281 specimens, this Burgundy version is one of the rarest. 6 Cylinders, Bi Turbo, 550 HP, one of the faster for that time, if not THE faster with a 342 Km/h speed!

Not my favorite, in terms of design, but we cannot deny it has its charm!

Best,

Nicolas

But seeing it in the photos like this (absent traffic, buildings, scenery) shows what an insanely impractical vehicle it is! Mike

my favourite hypercar of all time, bar only the EB110

I have a friend who has one, amazing car, and not a problem it didn’t get the engine that was promised. The problem seems to be just what engine they choose. From the MG rally car which is a real racing engine. That means constant service and rebuilding o...

The first time you get in and fire it up it’s quite an experience especially if you have to reverse it, as I did the first time I drove one ! The thing that strikes you first is the width of the car on the road, especially away from main roads. It’s still...

Don't think I've ever seen this, thanks

This is a bittersweet story

The XJ220 was officially priced at £290,000 in 1989 but Jaguar lacked the resources to develop the car as originally envisaged so the 6.2-litre V12 was replaced with a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 engine. Then all-wheel drive would be replaced in favour of a l...

IMHO the best and most ferocious competitive time

I look back on the XJ220 with great fondness. I remember geeking out on it in the early 90's as a young teen and to this day I still have some of the original Jaguar press releases and official brochure of the car. It was also built not too far from where...

Nico, shoot me a reminder in July....

I'll hopefully be back in the UK (flight restrictions permitting) then and i'll gladly share. I've a ton of stored stuff which i've been meaning to digitize. In the meantime, some more XJ220 pics (from my phone) to drool over! ...
