No doubt it will be their highest margin vehicle. I just picked mine up. The market here is $30-$40,000 over sticker for the AMG G63. I was lucky to pay list and I’ve been a dealer of many brands

Mercedes G-Wagen

 By: Thomas_3 : February 14th, 2020-07:04
I saw an article in the WSJ this morning that the G-Wagen may possibly be going away. Ironic as I saw a brand new one on the highway this morning. The driver looked like she just stepped off of the cover of Vogue. ...

Can you share the article link?

This G wagon is like SS Rolex now, have a long wait list and they just revamp the vehicle for 2019 so not possible it’s going away.

Here's the key opinion of the author.

The last paragraph is where the author speaks about his opinion on changes to come. From the article: "For lovers of unwieldy paramilitary luxury, the bad news is that the gas-powered G-Wagen is doomed. European emissions rules will kill it, kill it with ...

but I was on the WSJ website this morning. Not sure if it will be in today's print addition, or maybe tomorrow's.

I can't read beyond the opening paragraph either, but I'd be willing to bet that the headline writer took the liberty of suggesting they wouldn't be around long based on the apparent strengthening of clean energy concerns rather than any business decision...

Add before the url and it will treat it as a Facebook redirect. Trick still works with the newest WSJ paywall. Bit of a hassle to copy/paste in mobile, but it can be done.

Wonderfully capable vehicle even in its current guise.

I would say the article's author, Mr. Dan Neil, is not sound in his argument.

The Magna Steyr plant in Austria combined with Mercedes just invested hundreds of millions of Euros for a new production line and a redesign of the G Class. The G-Class now will be Mercedes-Benz's most profitable car per unit assuming fixed cost amortizat...

I’ve waffled between loving and hating the G, but I have no doubt I’d enjoy driving it. The pickup must feel fantastic.

I must resist!

Longtime G Wagon fan. Not yet an owner. Must resist!

Thank you so much! [nt]

The author of this article is making a wish I guess

Saw the headline, I don’t usually comment on automotive. The author could be right, but I think the possibility of the petrol G exiting in five years is remote. The legislators collect plenty of tax on these and they’ll sooner collect more taxes than outr...
