WS for 9th of November - ‘Stealthiest watch you own’ is live
Nov 08, 2018,11:02 AM
As announced yesterday, the topic will be ‘Stealthiest watch you own’, however you choose to interpret it. A watch with under appreciated tremendous value, a watch that no one but the most knowledgeable will recognise on the street, a watch looking like it has radar absorbent qualities, a watch you would not be afraid to take to the wrong side of the tracks...
For me this is both an easy and a complicated theme at the same time. I largely choose my watches to not be easily recognisable outside the Purists spheres and I enjoy the relative anonymity it affords. But that also means I have several that might qualify.
After some thought here are two candidates. First up the Grand Seiko SBGH035. At 300 pieces not as rare as some Wako editions but unrecognisable enough for the regular person (given how often I post it here, that is probably not the case at WPS
). I generally find GS to be great at this game, with only a minuscule fraction of people, even those with a moderate interest in watches, knowing what it is. Here you have a Special, Hi-Beat in steel, with a radar absorbing dial...
The second one I went for is the Seiko SCVL002. It sports Seiko’s thinnest mechanical movement (the 6810A at 1,98 mm), is very minimalistic in design (and at 33mm in size, too) and has a very alluring feature - a shaped movement in a round watch. And it’s practically unknown outside Japan
Really looking forward to seeing your entries and wishing you all a great weekend!
