A brief hands-on with the Montblanc Heritage Pythagore Small Second Limited Edition 148

I recently had the chance to have hands-on time with the new Montblanc Heritage Pythagore Small Second Limited Edition 148 at my local Montblanc boutique.

This particular blue dial model comes on a very wearable 39mm white gold case and is relatively slim at 9.5mm. I find the dial here to be quite attractive as it features a sunburst centre dial followed by a grain finish on the hour ring, giving the dial a multi-layered look. The dial colour is supposed to be a blue sfumato colour gradient, which becomes increasingly darker from the centre outwards. I personally feel that the shade of blue used is similar to the blue on the Lange Odysseus.

The new manual winding Calibre MB M14.08 is a modern take on the 1940s Calibre 48 which can be found in the old Minerva Pythagore. It is well finished as a modern Minerva movement.  However I prefer the MB M62.00 in last year Heritage Small Second Limited Edition 38.  I feel that even in pictures, the M62.00 looks aesthetically nicer and noticeably better finished than the M14.08.

I also really like the feel and sound of winding the crown, in fact winding here feels abit smoother than some Montblanc Minerva chronographs I handled.  

Overall I feel that this watch is an interesting and good release from Montblanc this year although I wish it is a tad lower in price.
