Here's the final result

With a few annoying obstacles along the way, I pulled the balance cock, replaced the stud holder and adjuster, and reinserted the balance into the movement.
I thought I would try a new iPad-based timing meter, so downloaded the software and ran some tests while I adjusted the watch. This unit used the microphone in an iPhone headset, so I fastened it on securely with some cleaning putty and let it run for an hour or so (of course the back cover is off during adjustment - then replaced for a final check and for the photo).
The iPhone microphone looks like this if you've never noticed before; it's on the little bar that lets you adjust volume on the ear buds:
The mic listens for the tic-toc and the software interprets the results - this is basically how all audio-based timers work.
I'm happy with these results - and will give the watch back to the owner after wearing it for a day or two to confirm them.
Cheers,
Cazalea

It's not running. The owner dropped it on the bathroom tile floor. My Stowa shown for comparison. Cazalea ...

I've decided to get right to work, as a patient who is handled quickly and carefully has a better chance for survival, don't you think? I removed the back cover. Notice the blued screw near the word SWISS is mostly undone. The adjusting arm has fallen off...

I think I found it in the app store. Is there anything one needs to know to use it? Or does it just work?
It helps to know what the data represents

But if you just want to see how your watch is performing, it just works. You do need a quiet room and you need to have the mic directly over the escapement- so it‘s nice to have a transparent caseback. Cazalea
