Now, as for the soul, you can only find it in vintage watches, that's for sure.

SIHH 2019: Montblanc 1858 Automatic Bronze LE of 1858 pieces.

The cool daily beater, which has character. That's what Montlbanc certainly had in mind when releasing this version of the 1858 Automatic. Just the strictly useful, here, with no date nor seconds. Hours, Minutes and basta cosi, as our Italian friends use ...

They see the success of 5522A? [nt]

With the integration of Minerva, Montblanc has lots of heritage in pilot watches.

Bronze is in fashion at the moment, so why not? Combo with a green dial (like IWC did in its 42 mm chrono) is also a winning combination. I assume the bronze does not go green, like the IWC's?

I like the clean lines and the old-timey pilot's style

but, and here's a dumb question, why didn't Richemont just market these Montblanc watches with Minerva movements as Minervas? Montblanc would have their Timewalker and other lines with their own brand name which makes sense, but for the high-end and Miner...

Great, great looking piece, but...

You’re right to say so, about getting tired of bronze cases and green dials. Also I’ve been skeptical about Montblanc even though they’ve done a wonderful job the past couple of years. I just cannot relate pens to watches. When I think about watches, I th...

has a great history and is building onto that history with a BANG. I have invested (yes invested) in two 1858 chrono’s, the 2016 chrono of the year (SS with blue dial) and the new bronze with a Salmond dial, the new one is the most accurate watch I’ve eve...

I went with the salmond Dial

I’m hoping the split second might come out in a different material and dial, I’m not drawn to “snail” type dial on this model...Jim
