Datograph 39 vs 41
Jun 17, 2022,17:39 PM
I know this discussion happened many times in different forums but I’d like to compile it all in 1 place.
What’s the real difference between both generations?
1. Dial
- roman numerals vs batons
- longer chronograph track indices on the 39
- power reserve of course.
- are there any differences in the dial color/material itself?
- are there any differences in the chrono white subdials?
2. Wearability
-
-
3. Case
-
-
4. Strap/Buckle
-
5. Movement:
- I got to know that both watches’ date-wheel changes gradually overnight instead of an instant change at 00:00, is it true?
- Do both pushers work as smooth in both generations?
Please feel free to add from your knowledge here

Love the Gen 1
By: montecristo#2 : June 17th, 2022-23:58
I love the Gen 1 but I am meh on the Gen 2. I’m not a fan of the Gen 2 power reserve indicator and the dial symmetry on the Gen 1 is just better in my opinion. Also (and I may be wrong about this) but on the Gen 1 the subregisters have a golden hue that g...
