 By: amanico : February 16th, 2017-15:40

7 years. In fact this is one si ma second automatic watch

 By: Tyo : February 16th, 2017-16:50
I had a Seiko which stayed with me a couple of weeks. Something like the popular divers with 2 tone bezel.

I thought I was going to have a fright when I penned the picture...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:02
But luckily was greeted by a very nice JLC. Very nice indeed and one I don't know. Cheers Andrew

Naked! Hummm very horny ;-)

 By: Alkiro1 : February 17th, 2017-05:53

My 83 year old watch...

What condition! [nt]

 By: Harry2 : February 17th, 2017-16:58

oldest & longest

 By: jml_watches : February 16th, 2017-15:05
HI Thought id post both my oldest & the one I've had the longest First the oldest - a fabulous Futurematic - circa 1953. Took 3 years hunting to get this one. Not sure how long they were made , but not long so prob 1956 latest. Oris Big Crown pointer date...

I think Nico said it all. [nt]

 By: TheMadDruid : February 16th, 2017-16:59

Love the futurematic...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:04
I have a friend who has one and you rarely see them these days. Certainly one watch that kept up with the future as is as good on the wrist today as when produced. Yours looks in great shape too. Cheers Andrew

I'm with you JML ;-)

 By: Alkiro1 : February 17th, 2017-05:55
Best wishes Alkiro ...

wow - 2 porthole Futurematics, thats just greedy :-)

 By: jml_watches : February 17th, 2017-08:49
The blue power reserve one for me! Cheers JML

That is a really nice watch.

 By: TheMadDruid : February 16th, 2017-17:00
I love the decoration on the side of the case.

That one is really cool, Rogi. [nt]

 By: crown comfort : February 17th, 2017-00:23

G that is nice...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:05
Reminds me of an old Rolex but with a touch of reverso in the case too. Love the engraving on the side, a thing we have seen appear in some recent watches. Cheers Andrew

Oh, my. Pre-war vintage . . .

 By: Dr No : February 17th, 2017-14:33
. . . Andreas Huber, Para, Stowa, et al., are rarely found here. Don't know if German manufacturers at that time had American distribution, but I've never come across one in the metal. Intrigued, Art

By far my Connie

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 16th, 2017-15:34
Inherited when my dad died. And this is the oldest I\'ve bought myself. The Millie. ...

tnx

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 16th, 2017-16:00
Guess the Connie has got something special for a lot of vintage collectors. Often I wonder how some of those old Omega\'s are so cheap compared to their Rolex counterparts (if you get my drift).

Two really cool watches.

 By: TheMadDruid : February 16th, 2017-17:02
The Constellation has a lot of history, and yours is very special.

Production can be dated to the early '60s, when the . . .

 By: Dr No : February 17th, 2017-14:41
. . . 'Officially Certified' script was abandoned for a while on Connie dials. Don't recall for sure, but I think it was between '62 and '63, possibly extending to '64. Art

Very nice entries.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : February 16th, 2017-23:36
I like the names. Maybe I should start naming my watches to completely drive my wife insane.

I don't know who makes up those names

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 17th, 2017-00:15
It\'s a nerdy business....that\'s for sure

I fly my nerd flag high and proud.

 By: zabreg1 Mr White : February 17th, 2017-03:39
And my freak flag, too.

A constellation with memories... even better!

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:07
and of course we all remember the first real watch we bought! Can't go wrong with a Milgauss. Cheers Andrew

That's the power of inherited watches

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 17th, 2017-05:19
They will always come with large emotional value.

Lovely Connie Arie!! And with a lot of significance to you I imagine...

 By: Subexplorer : February 17th, 2017-05:31
... Connies are true icons, and under rated by collectors I feel like you. A superb watch and a delight to collect! Hagwe! Abel

tnx Tim [nt]

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : February 17th, 2017-16:37

That's a good heirloom

 By: Harry2 : February 17th, 2017-17:02
Your father did well leaving you that to remember him by.

That Pie pan Connie is sublime

 By: NT931 : February 17th, 2017-22:33
What a lovely picture!

Rolex 6542. I think this is my oldest in age.

 By: Bill : February 16th, 2017-15:49

Excellent.

Sorry being new here I got it wrong

 By: marcobermann : February 16th, 2017-17:24
I didn't understand just how the WS threads work here as its confusing having a WS 13th Feb that isn't actually posted until the 19th but I will get the hang of it soon. Anyway my oldest watch is a circa 1974 Omega Baby PloProf 166.0250 and here are some ...

You have many Ploprof fans here.

 By: Bill : February 16th, 2017-18:13
Ploprof seamaster 600. ...

Usually, the WS starts on Thursdays around end afternoon Paris Time, to end on Sundays end afternoon Paris Time.

 By: amanico : February 16th, 2017-22:35
But the most important is your watch. And I must say that this baby Ploprof is quite cool. Less brutal than the Ploprof, but not less charming. Best, Marc. Nicolas

Marc, it doesnt matter what time you turn up if you have a Ploprof!

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:10
Its my kind of watch and this looks in great shape. Have you had it a long time and what made you buy it compared to the daddy version? Cheers Andrew

I've had it since 4th July 2104

 By: marcobermann : February 17th, 2017-09:35
Hi Andrew it took me a long time to find an all original version as opposed to a service dial and bezel or a re made new case version and I bought it head only and then hunted down the period correct Omega mesh and Omega Isofrane and box for it. I really ...

That bezel is magical...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:08
The colour and patina are fantastic. Great picture of a beautiful watch Bill. Cheers Andrew

Many thanks [nt]

 By: Bill : February 17th, 2017-08:39

Superb watch Bill!! ...

 By: Subexplorer : February 17th, 2017-05:32

Nice Hermes...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:12
This is the small travel clock right? Very nice indeed and something that is becoming quite rare. The Deville is something that will run forever if looked after, a really great looking chrono. Cheers Andrew

I would say the Hermes is

 By: halkcb : February 17th, 2017-17:33
more of a non conventional pocket watch as you can fit it nicely in the palm of your hand and when closed measure some 2.5 cm x5 cmand less than a cm in thickness. best

My oldest, circa 1960.

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:14
You know every time I see a beautiful picture of a vintage one, I hunt around as it ticks a lot of my boxes in terms of the dial layout and case size. Then after giving up hope of finding the perfect one, I go back to sleep... then seeing yours makes me h...

It was the 1980's...

 By: jporos : February 16th, 2017-20:37
I had a summer job delivering blueprints all over Washington D.C. for an architecture firm. I felt like it was time for me to have a real watch, so I bought this Seiko from a fancy jewelry store near my office. Still have it. HAGWE! ...

Great memories tied up in that one...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:15
and a really nice purchase! Whats the bracelet, it looks leather but then on top of metal links? Cheers Andrew

It's a croco embossed expanding bracelet...

 By: jporos : February 17th, 2017-08:26
My young self thought that was a cool/practical thing. Sigh.

Some things come back in fashion...

 By: andrewluff : February 19th, 2017-10:59
but hmmm sometimes you might need to wait a long time

Well this is not my oldest watch but it is the one I have had the longest.

 By: mpg13 : February 16th, 2017-20:48
I bought this new in the early 80's. I think it was Seiko's first analog quartz chronograph. 15 jewel movement, Teflon coated titanium case and bracelet. It was state of the art at the time! It's been a couple decades since I changed the battery, maybe I ...

Good to dig out the old ones...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:16
and see if they still run (even after a battery change) and then put them back for another few years and get the delight all over again! Cheers Andrew

Just go for a repolish and checkup with your watchmaker...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:24
and you will be good to go Nico. Nice pair indeed! Cheers Andrew

Two old well preserved treasures

Regret to know about your 16700 Nicolas but...

 By: Subexplorer : February 17th, 2017-07:12
... I was asking about your very first watch. I imagine you had one in your youth? Do you still have it or remember it? You may see in my post below my very first watch when I was nine years old. That was ... errr... almost 60 years ago!! Ouuuch!! Cheers!...

What a pitty!! I guess you had many nice memories about that! ...

Wow THAT Sea Hawk

My oldest one carries memories of survival ...

 By: nilomis : February 17th, 2017-02:22
Team, The oldest watch in my collection is this Amvox 1. Not "rusty", but with lots of history. First, it was the single survivor of a robbery (I dropped it on the floor and kicked it under a piece of furniture). It's my first Amvox Finally, I was wearing...

That's quite a story, Nilo

 By: crown comfort : February 17th, 2017-03:27

History is what makes us...

 By: andrewluff : February 17th, 2017-05:29

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:17
Most of my watches have memories, times I bought them, evenings out with watchmakers, deals I made or most importantly, family memories. It is what keeps them special and in our collections and hearts forever. That Longines has caught my eye... very nice ...

Thanks a lot for your kind comments Andrew!

 By: Jad : February 19th, 2017-11:23
When my very first watch a Tissot went out of order. I was in fifth grade, the watchmaker who resized the bracelet told my mom, he is too young for such watch! What do you think was I too young? One thing is sure i took good care of it.

Sensual, I love the expression.

I certainly is.

The oldest watch in my collection is my Hamilton Otis "Reverso" from 1938... so almost a 80 years old lady ;-)

 By: Alkiro1 : February 17th, 2017-08:03
Sometimes, she\'s a little bit shy sorry ;-) In addition, I\'ve been owning my Breitling Navitimer Spatiograph Montbrillant for 20 years (my oldest/longest keeper). Exactly the half of my life next June ;-) ...

Splendid, young man!

 By: TheMadDruid : February 17th, 2017-08:37

 By: Alkiro1 : February 18th, 2017-12:02
And thank you for the "young friend". I really appreciate as I\'ll become soon a new forties member ;-) Best wishes Alkiro

Both different but equally stunning!

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:24
As I have said above, I have never owned a Breitling but have looked at vintage navitimers quite a bit in the past. But yours is different... tell me, is that a countdown timer where the 10 is or what? Cheers Andrew

My oldest watch is this one....

 By: JFT : February 17th, 2017-08:36

 By: JFT : February 18th, 2017-23:15
You need something even tougher to withstand all the things we do as a kids.... Hehehe Best Jev

I inherited this first one in 1992.

 By: TheMadDruid : February 17th, 2017-08:46
The longest in my possession. It's from around 1943-44. My Father bought it for himself after returning from action in WWII. This Bovet mono-rattrapante is from around the same time. I've only had this watch for about 3-4 years, however. In terms of "olde...

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:28
you are having too many of us drooling over our keyboards... beautiful piece indeed! And that Longines... since when did they have this case shape and with diamonds?? This is new to me... Cheers Andrew

I put the Bovet away,

 By: TheMadDruid : February 19th, 2017-04:27
but after a separate post in HoMe. Sorry! As for the Longines...I have actually seen another in the metal a decade and a half ago here in New Jersey. And about two years ago one came up on Ebay. So it appears not to be an outlier.

Here is mine with some matching wine!

 By: Harry2 : February 17th, 2017-16:57
Not the best shot, but I was thoroughly enjoying myself here! ...

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:33
Very beautiful indeed and looks super mint... when did you get it and why this over a wrist watch? Did you already know the current Lange when you purchased this one? Cheers Andrew

I got this almost a decade ago....

 By: KIH : February 18th, 2017-16:50
.. well, this one has been my favorite "antique" piece. Sure, I do have "vintage" wrist watches, but none of them tops this in terms of its "timeless-ness"..... I bought this AFTER I bought my first (or second or third or..) Lange while I wanted to know m...

The Little Roamer that Wouldn't Die

 By: MTF : February 18th, 2017-05:06
My oldest watches are this Hamilton pocket watch and Roamer wristwatch. I don't know how old the pocket watch is...... The Roamer Super Shock manual-wind Gents wristwatch is only 30mm in diameter and belonged to my father-in-law. It started life as a watc...

The Roamer has a fantastic story with it.

 By: TheMadDruid : February 18th, 2017-06:24
And both watches look terrific.

You wore the Roamer in some welsh bar brawls?

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:39
Well it still looks in perfect condition! The hamilton pocket watch just is pure class... its a shame we don't see more pocket watches today. Cheers Andrew

My grandfather's watch I inherited a few years ago...he bought it at the end of WWII. As it was purchased in the England, it has English Hallmarks and dates to 1944-45 when it was hallmarked in Chester. It is showing it's age, with a heavily patinated sil...

Nice Tim...

 By: andrewluff : February 18th, 2017-12:50
Did he work for British Gas too? What is the GAS for.. his initials or something else? Those blue hands are to die for. I guess there was a story about those dings too as they seem pretty brutal? Cheers Andrew

Unfortunately he was long gone when I received this....

 By: Tim Jackson : February 18th, 2017-17:24
GAS I suspect is the case maker, as the hallmarks are standard and not import hallmarks. Yes, the dents I hope/imagine are from skiing falls etc. he was the top skier in the British Army back then, rather than the more realistic reality of staggering home...

The oldest in my collection are the twin Ω ref 2242 . . .

 By: Dr No : February 18th, 2017-13:19
. . . ca '43, and separated by just a few score digits between the movement and case numbers. Unfortunately, the Brazilian edition isn't on a strap at the moment, and the other is at my watchmaker's, so I can't take a current photo. Here's a previous shot...

Aahh.. Like both, although seeing the dial of the 2242 is a bit difficult.. The square one..

 By: hs111 : February 19th, 2017-00:28
.. is a pretty cool piece, IMO ! & Yes - Congrats to your 3-ball winning streak ! Cheers & Best, hs

Here's a better photo of the 'red star' ref 2242, h . . .

 By: Dr No : February 19th, 2017-09:11
. . . especially for you. Yes, it is a bit hard to read with the dilapidated dial, and the second hand has been refinished - kinda like an old soul with a new ticker. ...

Older than me
